One of the most positive outlooks - Paul Williams
With all the rubbish us fans have faced with boxing recently - Steroids, dodgy decisions, the right fights not being mate and of course closer to home the loss of our friend Windy. I read something from an interview with Paul Williams that uplifted me.
As we all know, they guys career is over. But the fight for him is only going to be tougher than before... but out of all of our problems nothing can be as bad as what this guy has faced recently. At the age of only 30, being told you may never walk again ranks highly... Here's a quote from the interview:
How a guy can be so positive in such a terrible situation is astounding, it make's me think of Windy and how positive he always was on these boards, so much that we didn't know he was ill! And more importantly how we all take things for granted. Even if you're not one of Paul Williams biggest fans, you have to take your hat off to him for taking something like this and just dealing with it.
I wish the guy all the best, if I had an ounce of his positive outlook I'd be a better man.
Sorry for being soppy, I'll be back on the boards soon to continue trading insults when the Boxing season picks up again

"We had a big fight, supposed to be coming up. I'm sorry that it got pushed back. But you know, that's alright. That's the way the cookie crumbles. They told me there's a very slight chance of walking because the spine was, like, crushed or whatever.
"I should be able to sit up on my own, but, as far as me walking and all of that, it's all on me. I'm going to be walking. I know that. That's how I feel. If I can't walk then, oh well, 'Hakuna Matata' [no worries.] I'll be on a boat fishing." Paul Williams, during an interview with 11Alive News from his hospital bed at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga.

Re: One of the most positive outlooks - Paul Williams
Theres a long hard road ahead, take it from me I have had major surgery on my spine when I was younger. I remember being bed ridden for months and sliding into a depressed state because you are not active and your body is just static. When the time came to start physio theropy after the 2 ops that I had, I remember throwing up as soon as I was upright on my feet, the body is a strange thing.
What Williams is going through however is far worse but BELIEVE me he can do it. He is a fighter so that should help him mentally because its the nights alone stuck in bed that are toughest, you need a strong mind........and some strong morphine.

I applaud his positive outlook. I used to be a bit critical of him in the past, my opinion has changed!
