"South Africa Will Cheat"
Good morning fan of rugby and welcome to almost 4 day jubillee weekend and more important almost international season for rugby.
My riddle today is about the article in Evening Standard I read while stuck in the tunnel by Edgware road again yesterday and was some shock that I make a noise by accident and frighten some tourism around me.
"... the locals will take great pleasure in testing him to the limit with late tackles, blatant foul play and insults delivered in that most aggressive of accents — Afrikaans."
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/sport/rugby/england-must-attack-the-big-issues-7807450.html
Is some scandal? Do you think to write like that South Africa will cheat? I was a bit ashame of my new country England journalism is my mind to be honest. Most also because the discipline not so great in some England player recent times.

Re: "South Africa Will Cheat"
Hartley is the key figure in the pack with his aggressive nature, constant talking and enthusiasm acting as a catalyst for the rest of what is a solid but rather steady bunch of forwards. Without Lawes, England lack a physical threat — a man to cut down the opposition with a tackle that leaves the victim winded and his team-mates desperate to avoid the next hit.
That is why Hartley is a key figure in South Africa where the locals will take great pleasure in testing him to the limit with late tackles, blatant foul play and insults delivered in that most aggressive of accents — Afrikaans
Bismarck vs Hartley
I know where my money is.

Chris Jones should really have said.
"SA will test the English to the limit with high tackles, late tackles, off the ball stuff, a bit of gouging, a bit of biting, hair pulling and some low blows"
If he really wanted to get his point accross.

He is just trying to use our physicality as an excuse if things go wrong.
But the way he does it sounds ludicrous.
He forgets we aren't actually that dirty, we don't go out to hurt people illegally, we just play hard, but then we aren't the only ones.

I'd be ropable if our media waved the white flag like this, tut tut.

Mystir no worries mate, us saffers don't bother too much with newspapers anyway, usually just bad news and boring trype.
At least we can get it out in the open here. We aren't ashamed of being physical, even if Jones beleive we should all be living in "the colony where criminals and outlaws were sent."

Re: "South Africa Will Cheat"
Morning biltong, long time not been on the board (me that is)
and pray sir, is there any better place than "the colony where criminals and outlaws were sent."???
but seriously, I'm happy as now. The international rugby starts again, for us next Tuesday, and also the SA and kiwi games. Really looking forward to all the games. I predict boks and kiwis to win all their games, I think the English may be too pumped up, by the media and coach, to get the boks when they're cold, and give away a few too many penalities with quite a few hot heads in their side.
I feel the kiwis will be too strong for the Irish, even if they are rebuilding. There's to much depth in NZ, and they wouldn't want to start their championship year with a loss.
As for us, geesh, who knows what dingo may bring to the table, with what players we have left standing??
Then there's another 5 weeks or so of nothingness before the 4Ns .....

Yeah, you guys will miss O'Connor and I hope Cooper hits form immediately otherwise you may lack attacking options.
but I think no matter what has transpired over the last year, the status quo on the whole will pretty much remain.
Can't wait for it all to start though.

Re: "South Africa Will Cheat"
I have to say, here in SA we are spoilt the most, my saturday's are usually cramped for time when I consider the rugby viewing pleasure.
My whole saturday is planned around:
9h00 rugby in NZ
11h00 rugby in OZ
15h00 rugby in SA
And there are always one after another.
Last saturday I watched rugby for the whole day, from 9h00 all the way to 21h00 in the evening, now with argentina being toued as well, it will be to midnight.

But on serious note I worry that is make really the friction with our friends in the other country that interest in rugby. All about some stupid journalism that opinion nobody share.
No wonder the SA just want to hurting us when we writing such stupid things to the paper.

Re: "South Africa Will Cheat"
He was over with the Waratahs bout 2006, and had a fight outside a bar in CT after hours, got suspended then for the Bulls game next week. But that was after the year before with the Wallabies when he had another fight outside a nightclub in SA and was sent home.
After the Waratahs incident he said it's better he never returned to SA cause trouble always starts there (for him) and gets magnified. That was about the time when his cocaine and drink problems really took over and he didn't play again after that, was sacked really.

I agree. I'm as bitter about the last Lions Tour (I hate Schalk Burger) as any man, but this article could basically constitute Lible and printing anything that is demonstrably untrue or even misrepresented in any form of public "news", implied to be specifically for the purpose of informing readers of facts, should be very illegal because the harm done in mass betrayal of the trust of a readership is so much greater than individual fraud. I could rant for hours on the topic and unfortunately it isn't just seen in something as relatively trivial as sport

Re: "South Africa Will Cheat"
You guys worry too much, when a south african rgby player plays he gives 100% if it is the opinion of Jones that we do it outside the legal means allowed, then it is just his perception.
I can tell you now if you want to get a south african rugby player upset, this isn't going to do it.
Tell him he has no chance of winning, it will be much more effective if you want to wind them up and sour relations.

Is a good point actually.
Anyway doesn't matter how much dirty the SA might be because England quality now so great that springboks even at home must starting like unfavourites as England take the other step toward inevitably 2015 rugby world champions. Yes, SA players and team alike will be swat away for like the fly by unstoppable rugby mechanicism that is England.

Oh no mate, never said if was anything to do with the saffas, he could be a bit cocky for sure. By that time he was getting a bit mind fcuked by the alcohol and drugs, and that last time he was injured just before the Stormer's game and didn't play.
I think he was just a very frustrated player cause in league he was very good, the records speaks for itself, and when he went to union he never got the success, and I suppose kudos, that he got playing from league, partly cause he didn't get the ball so much being on the wing in union.
Was big news back home, cause the union spent a lot recruiting him, and Matt Rogers and Tugiri, from league, and whilst the other 2 did ok for the Wallabies, he never did.
just wondered if that made the news in SA.

It probably did, but we aren't "celebrety minded" over here, there are issues more important than that, we will rather spend a front page talking about the latest corruption, corrupted politician etc. than worry about what some rugby player did here.
We sometimes hear there was a movie star in SA, then they have left already.

I'm sure this journalist is basing this on past experiences:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4L0nxIO5yGA (3:00 Mark)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOM30-9e3Qw (10:00 Mark)
No idea what the Saffers are like now but I do relish a bit of physicality in rugby.
