Love that we open at TB. Making home advantage count early doors. Seem to pick grounds that suit us too.

Really happy for OT, but the traditionalist in me is a bit sad that there won't be a test at Headingley.

Lovely to see the organisers showing common sense - get the First Test at Trent Bridge where Jimmy and co. will swing it round corners, go 1-0 up and heap the pressure on the Aussies! Also really good to see Old Trafford gets a test ...not Cardiff.

I don't get the point of a 2 match test series. Pointless

Usually it is. But we have five Tests v Australia (I don't think anybody would dispute that), and it would be rather pushing things to squeeze 8 Tests into the summer.

I'd rather dump the Champions Trophy. Pointless tournament.

You get your wish after the 2013 event. Unfortunately the ICC's sponsors and broadcasters refused a proposal to swap 15 days of one-day cricket in the Champions Trophy for Test match semi-finals and a final between the top four teams, on the grounds that India and Pakistan's participation would not be guaranteed.

Re: Ashes venues 2013
So we get a pointless Champions Trophy as opposed to a third Test against New Zealand. And we get another batch of 5 ODIs against the Aussies. But'll be nice to play New Zealand again - it'll be 5 years since we last had a Test Match against them when we play on the 16th May 2013.

Re: Ashes venues 2013
Oh and just to add, the next Ashes series after the 2013 summer in England will take place in 2013/14 in Australia which effectively means 10 back-to-back Tests against Australia. England will then next host the Ashes in 2015.

This has been getting my goat ever since they announced it. They claim that it was the only way to not have the Ashes and World Cup in the same winter any more, but they could just as easily have achieved that with series in 2013, 2014/15, 2016 and so on than needing to have one in 2015. The only issue I can see with that is that they might not want the Ashes in Olympic year, but that is only a couple of weeks and in my view preferable to the overkill which is now scheduled.
