If Wales DO Thrash The Barbarians
So! I get a lot of angry message about my last discussion on Wales and the Barbarian. It was suggest to me that I must even up some balance and make a positive article on my new neighbourds of Wales and they're exciting new combinator.
I think is fair and so I make this post to say the opposite to last time. WHAT does it meaning if Wales THRASH the Barbarians?
Well, some opinion over from Wales is that some unstoppable changing of the world order about rugby power is already in place. "when a second string welsh side beat, with some comfort, a star studded team made up predominantly of SH players, it will be further evidence that the winds of rugby change are slowly starting to blow northwards. A couple of good shows in the next few weeks by our collective young guns and the gentle breeze may soon be a full on gale!"
Although they stopping short about predicts already victory for Wales over Australia.
So if Wales DO beating the barbarians and make a "good showing" about Australia (Maybe you can interpret for me in colloquial) is the opinion correct? Does it mean NH will be rising up in ascention and SH teams in the unascention?

The Welsh combinator will definitely be taking the escalator up and the Australia combinator more like a lift down.

I don't think you can read too much into it. Don't forget that an England side with a few debutants, a scratch-built back row and a fly-half playing out of position put 50 points on the same star-studded team.
I think it's more likely to bring on a wealth of "England's better than Wales" & vice-versa threads. I am just hoping to watch some rugby!!

Re: If Wales DO Thrash The Barbarians
That must have been me. I think Wales will win. I also think they'll get a narrow beating in their first test against Oz but learn from it and go on to a 'good showing' in the rest of the tour. Youth learning quickly. Same as England. Same as (I really hope), Scotland.
My predictions are a wales series win barring injuries at key moments. An England Test win, (the first one, I think it gets harder location wise after that), and a scotish continuing improvement, beating the islanders.
Lions to pummel the oz in 2013 and wales or england to win the world cup in '15.
Really is, to coin a phrase, 'simples'

And I feel I must add that I am in no way Welsh. The land of whippets and leek shows is more a reference to life in bleak ex-mining towns and villages in the no longer industrial North East of England. You should visit sometime AWOP. Increase your 'cultural learnings' of this wonderful country beyond the South. Darts, Dominos, hard drinking and regular brawling as well as leek shows and dog racing. You'd love it.

Yup it's a shame that so many threads like this one has to be started about woo my teams better than yours coz we beat another invitational team blah blah blah...
Can't people just view it about how the BaaBaas game has helped their own side (or not)? without feeling the need to wum the same tired wind-up articles?
Personally I'm suprised England beat the Baa Baas by as much as they did and Ireland lost - but that's absolutely not any reflection on either sides strengths as I bet both were trying out different combinations/moves.
I'm just looking forward to seeing some young keen Welsh youngsters trying to show they should be considered for the Oz tour, win, lose or draw

We won 42-0 in 2004.
And 31-10 in 1996 I was at that game.
The Barbarians game is just a traditional end of season party game, where both teams just try and chuck it about. This game means nothing really.

I did not know if Wales had thrashed them before at all.
I do agree with you that it is a game that does not count for much. That is why i cannot understand why Wales hand out caps, for this type of game.

Because clearly when a troll is so blatant, it isn't good enough. Probably need to do a review of the mods and add some more who won't put up with this rubbish.

Could either of you explain where the trolling is.
Is it the OP?
Is t the continious suggestive ghost thing?
Is it the fact that it is about wales?
I would like to know, as I am obviously not "aware" enough.

I don't know why we play the Barbarians surely it would be better to play Romania or even maybe get South Africa down here, they are normally fairly happy to play us in Cardiff in June.

if wales beat aus it means they have prooved to the world they have turned the corner and become the team us in the NH know they are.
If they beat Aus they will get great confidence and they will have dispelled the ghost, this ghost keeps cropping up and well never go away untill they can beat Aus, This ghost of Aus victories over Wales is hurting them and making it harder to get rid of this Ghost. They can beat aus- but the baabaas game is kinda unimportant really..

You tend to get over those kind of things when you beat them in a World Cup Final on their own patch.Morgannwg wrote:mystiroakey wrote:if wales beat aus it means they have prooved to the world they have turned the corner and become the team us in the NH know they are.

Goes to show how bad your knowledge on rugby is. There is no under 21's team in Wales. There hasn't been one in most countries since 2008. Run along back to the wendyball forum, as football has some U21 teams you can discuss .

You can try and make out i didnt know a simple fact- or you could act like an adult for once in your life and realise that it was just a simple mistake.

Hey I just suggested that you go back to the football boards as you seem to want to disuss U21 teams. Rugby doesn't have those.
You were childishly trolling as always and yet made a poor error in your execution. When you stop acting your shoe size () people might take you seriously and discuss something related to the topic. Until then you are just a pretender .

I read the 1st part of your post and thought you were talking about yourself for a minute.
Can't understand why so many English posters are coming on Welsh rugby threads and telling us that we have to beat Baa Baas by so and so, or if we lose to the Baa Baas so and so will happen, or if we don't win then that will prove so and so, or even saying that because we have a few 30 year olds (like Ryan Jones & Rees) a few mid 20's players (like Turnbull, Bishop and Brew) and a few youngsters - but haven't got our 1st XV then that must automatically make it our official 2nd competitive side ie the U20's (not U21's).
I'm not sure I've followed the logic correctly but I think that's it

With the Baa Baa's having played two games already I think it is going to be a tough test for a young Welsh backline.
I'm going tomorrow and will be happy with a win, but if we do I very much doubt there will be a massive gulf like the England game last weekend.

I have been pretty positive about you welshies guys. I want you to beat aus- not bothered about the baabaas, because it will be a second string side v a decent baabaas by the looks of things- gonna watch the game mind it could be a right cracker!!. But its these threads- its all wind up from the start and then it continues- i play nice untill someone goes abit to far and starts bringing up personal stuff

I know the threads are usually set up for one purpose, starting a decent discussion is always the best way to deal with it!
I agree the result isn't that important tomorrow, I just think that the young players could gain a lot of confidence from beating what is a decent team.

I'm going too, and am hoping for a good game where our younger players/2nd choices put their hands up and play well, and also that the team go through the phases, play controlled rugby and only throw it wide when it's on.
It'll be a tough test though I'm hopeful we'll win, but it's not like it's an important game (from the result point of view) it's more important that players like Biggar/Liam Williams show they can take on experienced internationals and (in Biggar's case) control a game at int level.
Don't really see the point in getting into a "My team scored more points against an invitational side than yours' Wee weeing contest

I agree, a win would be a good experience for a lot of the players involved. A loss wouldn't really mean anything (especially if Shane scores the baabaas winning try on 80 minutes)

It was a fundamental error actually. And if someone, an englishman, is going to keep trolling on welsh articles then why can I not? Also can I add that if I referred to someone as "sad little boy" then my entire comment would have been deleted by a moderator. Some consistentcy in the management would be nice. No point in trying discuss the game on this thread by the grey . Anyway he's got what he wanted now, which is the Welsh argueing with the English; and the moderation team are the ones that let it happen.
With that said, I'm over the error now and am thinking about the rugby tomorrow .

Re: If Wales DO Thrash The Barbarians
If you class it as fundamental then that's your prerogative, I disagree and asked you not to keep bringing it up.
I felt that the two of you were bickering and decided to red pen and let it all stand. You called somebody a 'pretender', that they were 'acting their shoe size' and accused them of 'childishly trolling'. Pretty sure those posts are still on the board too?
I'm Welsh and had a polite conversation, Wales606 and Smirnoff have also made points about the game without any arguments. Ask yourself if you're letting personal feelings about a poster affect the way you treat all of their posts. It is easy to do, I've done it before and make an effort not to now.
