The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sixmilebridge
First topic message reminder :
Sláinte and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to the homeland of the wonderful Eirebilly, who we were all horrified to hear that he was involved in a helicopter crash on Friday. Better news though is that he's awake and swearing like a sailor, so no change there Feel free to take in all of the pubs, of which the Greyhound is but one of many.
Updates on Billy's progress can be found here: https://www.606v2.com/t30132-eirebilly-op-updated-02-06-2012 and I'm sure we'll all continue in sending the positive thoughts and good wishes to him and his family.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the snooker table, brought in especially for Billy. And I'm not quite sure how that picture of a sheep got above the bar.....
Old pub: https://www.606v2.com/t29683p950-the-dew-drop-inn-erc-2012-commemorative-pub-dublin#1271612

Looks like Wales had a decent win against the Baa-baas to further seal there European supremacy .
Any more news on Billy?

I think he was unlucky. I knew he would when he went off clutching his shoulder though, I think the injury possibly made the decision for Howley. Didn't look good. Still, Danny Boy is only 22, he'll come back and hopefully make another tour in future, or maybe even feature in a Six Nations sometime.

Thanks for the concern bro. I don't think Norn Iron will be troubling anyone in Europe very soon.
I'd appreciate a link to that female singer you had on earlier!!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sixmilebridge
Just ordered my tickets to the Wallabies-Wales, June 23 Test.
On eastern side, front of middle tier between halfway and 22 line.
Apparently they've added an extra 1,200 seats for Origin 2; now 83,999 capacity. Not sure how the Wales match sales are going but there should be 70k or more hopefully. It'll probably depend on the situation after the 2nd Test though....

The squad decision was apparently made during the week and Biggar etc were told before today, as Howley commented on their professionalism to still play their hearts out (or words to that effect).
Anyway, just came back to read the Welsh thread. I've been offline all day (till now) and I'll be honest, I really enjoyed it. Nice to not have to read junk and idiots wumming. Judging how I stayed off despite 3G and wifi all day, I think I'm done on here now. Time to be more productive about Such And Such. See you all around. Thanks to Dreamer and Rava for providing the EireBilly updates on FB and I'll see you around like a doughnut. Logging off now, for the last time.

You have the stamina of an Ox boss.
Just checked the local weather forecast for Kidderminster (where my job is) and the forecast for today fluctuates between: drizzle, rain, showers and light rain.
How the feck am I going to get my worktops done in that lot of shoite?
The only consolation for me is that all those people who think Liz is faaaaaaahhbulous and simply faaaaahntaaastic daaaahling are going to have to prove their loyalty by turning out in this shoite...

Well apart from the rain, don't think I'll be walking round the mountain today, I'd get drenched.

Rodders - I don't have that problem, I'm watching it on S4C, Huw Llewellyn Davies is pretty bad but Dr Gwyn usually knows what he's on about. Both are better than Jiffy anyways!

Wales looking pretty good I have to say. Plenty of depth there by the looks of it. They'll be very disappointed if they don't get at least one win this summer.

One win is what my expectations are Rodders, two would be amazing but I just can't see it.
The strength in depth is coming but we aren't half risking it. Starting Rhodri Jones at TH for his international debut, when he's only ever played there a small handful of times (he's a LH at the Scarlets) was a big big call. I'm amazed that beyond a few wobbles he really held his own.
9 and 10 are still a worry for me, depth wise, but at least we're showing signs of building the depth there. everywhere else seems to be covered though, and we've quality backrow players coming out of our ears!

Your man Tipuric is some player. Warbs will have to keep looking over his shoulder
What I like (or dislike ) about Wales is that they all seem so comfortable together and with the style of play. By contrast Ireland always look disjointed, especially when unfamiliar combinations are thrown together.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sixmilebridge
I honestly think Ireland's problem is that they are determined to pick the best players individually.
Now I know that may sound a bit daft, I mean, why wouldn't you want your best best players playing?
But I think for Ireland in particular, your best players at provincial level are just not able to gel at international level, and it isn't all just down to the tactics/gameplan, I just honestly don't think they are all suited to play together. Your backrow is especially good at highlighting this.
What I think Wales has gotten good as is seeing which combinations work.
Some people might be calling for Tips to play in the backrow along with Warbs and Faletau, but then the balance would be off. We might have our 3 best backrow individuals on the field, but it wouldn't work as well for the team effort.
Another thing Wales has done with our training camps away, is just kept a core of players who know the game plan inside out that have been kept together for 2 years now, and that experience allows players like Shingler and Tipuric to come in and just slot in effectively.
It's taken Gats a long time to get us here (and we haven't half been impatient with him!) but it really seems to be paying off now.

No, keep going Hound... I tend to agree.
Wallaby squad up. 5 new caps: Palmer, Dennis, Harris, Tomane and Morahan.
https://www.606v2.com/t30228-wallabies-team-for-scotland-announced
Cooper unavailable, Berrick Barnes at fly half... I'm slightly worried. He's in dreadful form for the Tahs. What's with those kicks?
I would rather an in form playmaker like Zac Holmes outside Genia with that backline to be used out there.

Honestly dreamer, I think its down to political and provincial divisions. Other countries just pick their best players, full stop, whereas I think in Ireland this has to be balanced out by ensuring there is sufficient representation from each province. Whether thats a conscious or unconscious descision to do that I'm not sure but thats what I believe right now.....

I don't think other countries do pick their best players full stop though, rodders, certainly I don't think Wales do in every position, they just pick what will work best for the team. I don't think Ireland does that, but what that's down to, I couldn't say!

Yes, Genia is fit to play.
I'm pretty happy overall with the team for Tuesday given the injury situation. We need one or two players back against Wales though. I'm just hoping O'Connor (a few weeks still) and Beale & Horwill can play some part later on, if possible.
Of course Wales have a chance. If they hit the ground running like they were through most of the 6N then they'll be hard to stop.

it's both... the players are the ones on the field and not delivering but its the coach who picks them and sends them out with (or without) a game plan.
