The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sixmilebridge
First topic message reminder :
Sláinte and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to the homeland of the wonderful Eirebilly, who we were all horrified to hear that he was involved in a helicopter crash on Friday. Better news though is that he's awake and swearing like a sailor, so no change there Feel free to take in all of the pubs, of which the Greyhound is but one of many.
Updates on Billy's progress can be found here: https://www.606v2.com/t30132-eirebilly-op-updated-02-06-2012 and I'm sure we'll all continue in sending the positive thoughts and good wishes to him and his family.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the snooker table, brought in especially for Billy. And I'm not quite sure how that picture of a sheep got above the bar.....

The real shock is only four from the ERC runners up, who put Munster out.
Whilst I'm in this mood, is POM really the player he's made out to be?
(for those who believe in Poopie like Karma I had the chance to soak a postie who was walking next to a huge puddle Benny Hill style this morning and I resisted as I'm such a nice bloke )

Glas I hope you are not suggesting that there is anti-Ulster/pro Munster bias within the Irish selection just because the head coach is an exceptionally proud Munster man and Munster make up a proportionally much bigger section of the media purchasing public in the South of Ireland?
I'd be shocked if thats what you were suggesting.

Injuries and the foreign legions are the reasons.
Ferris and Court are both injured they would be in the match day squad. And sadly we can't pick Afoa, Muller, Wannenburg, Pienaar, Terblanche, Payne etc.
I'd say Ulster have done well to get Fitzpatrick, Best, Tuohy and Cave into the squad. The only player who could feel remotely hard done by is Craig Gilroy

I'd add Paddy Wallace to that as well.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sixmilebridge
No lads think about it.
- Fitzpatrick and Tuohy are there only as O'Connell and Ross are injured
- But for injury Ferris and Court would be there
- One third of your team isn't eligable to play for Ireland
- Humphreys/Jackson aren't good enough
- It was always going to be either/or with Cave and Wallace
- Trimble has been rubbish for a while
- Gilroy is vey unlucky to miss out.
4 in the 22 is quite fair for Ulster under the circumstances.

I thought they made up a pretty effective centre partnership when they've played together this season so they should have been look at as a unit. The trouble being BOD has to play and 3 doesn't fit into 2
Trimble has hardly been rubbish, not up to his own high standards but it's hard to judge sometimes when the DK way excludes wingers from getting any ball.
Is that DK clock still counting down?
Woop woop!!!!

Can we leave this other thing, there's no issue between the people involved so there is no need to drag it on... I'd suggest you PM stag with your concerns....

Rory I suspect this topic will only aggrivate others so I suggest we park it for now. I will send you a PM and hopefully we can close this unecessary distraction from the rugby.
For the record what were you asked in your interview by way of challenging questions.
I was asked for my last job - how do you procrastinate at work - do you play solitaire, surf the web etc - they implication was "we all do it so what do you do".

I am CHUFFED and astounded by that Irish team.
- No Trimble
- No Darcy
- No O'Callaghan
- O'Driscoll and Earls in the centres
- A new look back three
- Cave and McLaughlin on the bench
Feic it the optimist in me has awoken.
An acknowledgement of form at last. Maybe Reddan for Murray but generally I am delighted with that team.
Ireland by 12.
Yeah I'm delighted with the team as well. The only doubt I have is McFadden at 14. But it's exciting to see us explore some new options. I do think Woodcock will give Deccie Fitz a very hard time though.

I think maybe The Equator could be a good place. Its where the North and South Hemispheres meet.

Well I wasn't asked those questions. I doubt I will be with a computer much, it will be a very hands on approach. I was asked about a few scenarios such as how I would ensure not to pierce wires when drilling into a floor or something, and I hadn't really prepared for that kind of question. I just used common sense really and said I would ask for the diagram and plans of where everything is and where the wires are, and ask for assistance. He then asked what I would do if there were no plans and I couldn't get any help, and I just said I wouldn't drill into it then. I hope that was the right answer.

Well I've never been asked that Staggy. At an interview I had last year, they asked me what I thought my colleagues thought of me. I found that quite an awkward one to answer. There was a lot of umming and aaahing before I replied...

Oh wow. Thats a way to shock a candidate. I really like that one.
Usually in an interview I will always give the right answer. I find its easier to speak confidently that way and even if its an asnwer they wont like I say it.
But that . . .that would throw me as you need to be honest with yourself first.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sixmilebridge
Yeah it did throw me a bit, but I just thought of what I'm like as a worker, and how that benefits others. They offered me a post afterwards anyway, so they must've been happy with my answer.

Wallace and Gilroy are the two Ulster players who are very unlucky not to get on the tour. Gilroy is unlucky not to be in the team; Wallace has been in great form in the back end of the season but it's time to look at some new, different options in the centres. Gilroy should be there.
