Shane - NOT his last game
Shane has not just played his last pro rugby game, apparently.
Today's "The Rugby Paper" reports on its front page that Shane and Martin Williams will play for the Pacific Barbarians next weekend against Saracens in Hong Kong.
Further, the paper reports that Shane is considering a £600,000 offer to finish his career playing for Mitsubishi Dynoboars in Japan. Other leading French clubs are also trying to convince Shane not to retire.

He'll never retire - just keep on having retirement parties.
He did deny this in his post match interview - but £600,000 is a lot of money...

If I had a shot at a cool £600,000, it would be hard to resist.

I wouldn't be surprised if he took an offer from Japan.

For you maybe. But with the amount of money that Shane has, well it is peanuts right.

Nothing like a self-effacing retirement

Peanuts? Hardly. He isn't a soccer player. He has earned hundreds of thousands of pounds but annually not weekly and bear in mind that he is only 35. Thats 30 years before he gets to retirement age.
He will have chances to endorse products and appear in print and as a guest speaker but they won't yield him over half a million a year.

That's a good investment. The Aman Valley is absolutely rife with roiders nowadays, so I'm told.

He was asked these questions after the Barbarians games and he said he was retiring, it's probably more likely he will play for Amman united than anyone else if he does choose to play on.

Quite looking forward to a few beers in the sunshine at the game, followed by the England match
Wish SW would just Flip off though, sick of hearing about his 'farewell' game every week or so. No doubt my Welsh friends will be fawning over him as usual, bleugh

Re: Shane - NOT his last game
Yeah he's been doing a meet and greet today...my dirty welsh team mates are made up :P
Kinda torn who to cheer for on Saturday......think it has to be the Asia all stars....can't bring myself to support Sarries and as much as I am sick of the fawning over SW I am looking forward to seeing him on the pitch again, top player!

Re: Shane - NOT his last game
The Saracens are playing the Asia-Pacific Barbarians in hong Kong, who are nothing to do with Barbarians RFC and only select players with Asian or Pacific roots..
Unless Shane has a Japanese gran somewhere that he's not telling us about, I very much doubt we will be playing.

Re: Shane - NOT his last game
Seems a bizarre choice.. Would make him and Martyn (if that rumour is true) the only players out side of Asia/the Pacific to ever play for them. But I suppose there's a first time for everything.

He should try and stay on as coach/mentor there afterwards his style would suit the Japanese.

He'd be a fool to turn down that sum of money.
He'll fit in well in Japan, everyone else will look up to him.

No, Dave Walder plays for them (ex Newcastle and Wasps).
