o mention of the B & I. Those teams are different beasts to the Academy players.Sin é wrote:
Munster mainly use Academy players in the B+I Cup (with a spine of experience). Quite a few of them are on their first contract as well.
Hanrahan, Kilcoyne, O'Dea, DOC2, O'Hara are still in the Munster Academy and all featured in the B+I Cup this season.
There is some cross over but many of the players in the B & I teams are not eligable for the Academy teams and therefore to compare is not to compare like with like

Mickado wrote:So Sin, if Munster win the B&I cup again next year but the academy don't produce players who are capable of playing at (minimum) Pro12 standard would that be acceptable?
These are some of the teams that they came up against:
Ulster - QF: Conor Gatson, Michael Allen, Chris Farrell, Luke Marshall, Chris Cochrane; Paddy Jackson, Blane McIlroy, Paddy McAllister, Nigel Brady (Capt.) Jerry Cronin; Tim Barker, Neil McComb, Conor Joyce, Ali Birch, Mike McComish Replacements: Niall Annett, Conor Carey, Richard Lutton, James Simpson, Iain Henderson, Ian Porter, James McKinney.
Leinster: SF: D Kearney; A Conway, B Macken, C O'Shea, F Carr; N Reid, L McGrath; J McGrath, A Dundon, M Moore; D Browne, M Flanagan; R Ruddock, D Ryan, L Auva'a. Replacements: C Marsh for O'Shea (ht); A Boyle for Marsh (43 mins); J O'Connell for Moore (69); J Murphy for Browne (75); T Sexton for Dundon (77 mins): M Healy for Kearney (90 mins).
Some of those two teams are regarded as Pro 12 standard (if not international standard)!

Mike Ruddock has nothing to do with the Leinster Academy either.
I didn't miss you giving Leinster a dig because Ruddock is based there.

Of the 15 who took to the field in the "A" final, I think the follwoing are in the academy or have come through: Scanlon, O'Dea, Barnes, Dineen, Deasy, Kilcoyne, Archer, Nagle, O'Hara, Butler, O'Callaghan. That's not that bad.

Another whoosh moment
My comment, it was not a dig at anybody, had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Ruddock.
Why do you look for a confrontation when none is intended

OK watching this now....
First thoughts... these baby boks are monsters...gees the physiques on them! But fair play our lads have really fronted up, delighted with the tackling, rucking/contact skills and commitment. Fantastic stuff.
Henderson is a dynamo! What a prospect this guy is, He's like O'Connell and Ferris rolled into one!
Marmion has improved a lot, very good passing off his left hand in particular.
Hanaran is a genius.. but he's not a fly-half.... he's not even a 12 I think.... get this kid at outside centre and he'll be the next Brian O'Driscoll, you heard it here first...
Why the flip does that Baby bok 9 keep box kicking when he keeps getting charged down?.....

Why do you think Hanrahan would make a good 13 rodders? Hanrahan is a genius, and that is why he is best at 10/12. He just looks like he has the natural flair and skills to play in those positions. I think he would bring the best out in his 13.

Re: JWC: Irish and Baby Bok squads announced.
He reminds me of O'Driscoll Rory, with his quick feet, acceleration and box of magic tricks..... 12 maybe, 13 possibly, 10 defintely not in a million years in my opinion. Stick him in the wide channels and he'll cause mayhem...
Geniuses can play 13 too Rory...ask BOD or Conrad smith...

Sounds good to me anyways...... Luke Marshall at 12 and the world would be there for the taking...... back 3 of Gilroy, Zebo and Kearney jr... the mind just boggles.....

Good but still not as good as...
