Re: Scotland Rankings
I think you will be ranked 10th with this win (75.86 points), still 4 points clear from the current number 8th (Ireland) which seems a lot.

Re: Scotland Rankings
We are already guaranteed to be in the third pot for the next draw after finishing 3rd in the group last time out. We need to be in the top 8 if we want to make the second pot. Best chance of that is Argentina dropping out. I can't see Ireland slipping that far down, regardless of their series results.

Re: Scotland Rankings
true, Ireland will probably not lose any points as the gap between them and NZ is too high. Argentina has 2 games at home against france but being ranked pretty close it shouldnt lead to a big swing. then there is the championship of course.
when are the rankings frozen for RWC draw purposes by the way?

Anotherworldofpain did a post on rankings and wrote this...
"So Scotland super win over Australia in the arctic is mean Scotland leap up the ladder to 76.88 point to 9th point from 12th point, just behind Ireland and just ahead Tonga."

Re: Scotland Rankings
Rankings freeze after the autumn internationals. Our only hope of top 8 is Argentina getting manshamed by France, then the 4N and again in Autumn. If we can squeeze 4 wins our of the next 5 games we should just about make it. I'm not holding my breath though.

I think big wins over samoa and fiji combined with Oireland taking the expected bummings at the hands of the ABs could push Scotland to 8th, and Argentina arent that far ahead then. The implications of the the AIs just make my brain melt. But its not impossible that Scotland will be a pot 2 team and then pull New Zealand, Ireland and Fiji in their group crashing out in humiliation.

I think that somehow we'd managed to draw the cook Islands, Singapore, Portugal and Spain and go out in humiliation.Scot Abroad wrote:Peter Seabiscuit Wheeler wrote:Scot Abroad wrote:Rankings freeze after the autumn internationals. Samoa rather than Fiji - Samoa are much more dangerous.
Scotland vs Samoa should be an interesting game on the 23rd.

But you pulled it out of the fire with that last sentence. Or, rather, pushed it back in.

It is imposible for Scotland to go above Ireland this summer.
Ireland could be hammered in all 3 tests and they will not lose a single point - they are too far behind NZ.
Even if Scotland win both matches they cannot make up the still significant difference.
As other have said an Argentinian melt down is their best hope

Re: Scotland Rankings
Sorry yes you are correct, id taken a wrong rating for scotland from elsewhere on here. They are still in 10th on 75.86 right now
Hammering Samoa and Fiji will leave then about half a point behind Ireland.
They are pretty much safe from pot 4 though, thats the main thing.

Re: Scotland Rankings
Congratulations to Scotland yesterday on a fine performance underpinned by sheer guts and determination.
I would not feel too hard done by were you to overtake us in the seedings,if it is at all possible for you to do so.
It would surely push Kidney through the trap door and would rid us of this fool for once and for all.
Well done...good luck versus Samoa and Fiji
