The Seven Nations Empty The Seven Nations

Post by slartibartfast Wed 06 Jun 2012, 9:42 pm

Just a thought, im throwing out to 606v2 land....

Is the Six Nations model of one off tests bad for confidence?

For example, as soon as a team loses one match there's calls for players to be dropped , coaches to be sacked and the associated Union ends up a "bunch of old f@rts" - this adds pressure for the next Big game with fear stifling players natural game and coaches changing to win at all costs tactics making teams one dimensional.

Where as the Tri Nations always have another bite of the cherry a week or two later. This allows for fine tuning.

So how to correct this?

The Seven Nations - where each year one of the SH teams are added to the six just to see how they go. How do you think Aus would cope if they lost the second game to Ireland... then next up, England at twickers, all of a sudden it's a must win game otherwise the tournament is all but over.

Would SH teams be dragged down to NH level?

Just a thought.... Just a bit of fun...

(if you want to read between the lines: this follows on from posts regarding NH teams having psychological blocks when playing SH teams which I think is tosh, they're just not as good players - but I do think the style of NH play does effect greatly)

I still can't believe that the bottom of the six nations beat the winner of the tri nations.

I also can't believe Wales nearly made the final and France SHOULD have won the final.

Rugby is a funny game.

Yes but travel is bit of the issue really. 28 hours to play and then 28 hours to home game? I don't think so it is working.

After Ireland beating Australia was always six nation one side and tri-nation other side of world cup. So would be always one of six nations to make final. Not so surprise there.

Not sure why France "should" win anything. They were bad for most the tournament and lucky face up for all blacks with so lot of injury and playing the final against better quality by just one week before. France did not good enough to win and was fair reflecting the state of the teams.

New Zealand made about a billion high tackles and the ref was scared to penalise just like a football ref at old trafford.

Yes NZ had injury problems, but they played awful and were given an easy ride from the ref.

8-7

It's in the history books. Yes France dominated, but we did not allow them to get within drop goal range, and they missed their penalties. NZ are the world champs

Is some funny thing in when all blacks loose and blaming the ref some fans tell them to grow up and when all blacks winning then same fans blaming to the referee! Doh

I think this is thing about get vomit with jealous and not notworthy with admiring. In my mind to be fan of skills and quality from whereever growing is make the heart calm and the mind steady heart thumbsup

How can a factual comment be considered a WUM?
