I rarely if ever read the stickies.
I just check out the top 4-5 articles in General Rugby, Clubs and International.

Portnoy is this now in relation to the test match threads that have been made stickies for the weekend?

Re: How many v2 posters just scroll through the stickies?
Of course the SI Test's should be stickys. Its the only rugby going on right now (save for the TOP14, but thats all kicking bore-fests). They are our respective NH countries trying to slay a few SH sides = more interest than anything else up here. Its logical Capin Portnoy.
But logic never stopped ya moaning before. Thats why we love you.

OK a bad cut and pate from my previous post.
But what is to be gained by stickying current posts of interest.

Why do you get so worked up over minor details ?
It's a great idea having them as a sticky but I do wish we could get rid of the silly polls on the site.

I think it's in the name Portnoy. It's so the topic doesn't get lost around other active threads. It's so people can look at it whenever they want as it will always be there and they don't have to siphon through other threads searching for it.

Portnoy I highly suggest you take your issues up with an administrator.
You periodically have issues with the format of the forum and how it is managed.
PM an administrator, these issues are non productive and does not contribute to sporting debate in any way.
Perhaps then you can find the answer you are searching for as I am but a moderator and here to ensure polite debate amongst the members.

There is, the one last commented on is automatically at the top of the lists.
The stickies just do this in a manual way.

Whats wrong with that Portnoy. Its a way of helping out one of our members.
I would bet my right arm that had they not included a sticky you would insist that one be made available.

I will point out that having a Super Rugby sticky was inspired by one of Portnoy's suggestions
In the case of the match threads, I felt that stickying them would discourage mutiple threads (thereby saving me and Biltong work in merging them later ), and would allow the match specific ones to stand out from the various other threads that were running on similar tangents.
I also (as a reference) added links to the tour preview v2Journal articles that myself and several other posters spent a fair amount of time creating as references - the Journal largely exists to publicise 606v2, and encourage more posters to come in, hence I try to encourage traffic from here to the Journal site. That (a) is a way of helping boost Google search rankings, and (b) some of our posters are writing some pretty good articles for the v2Journal, and I think they ought to get as wide an audience as possible.

Me?
I'm not even sure whether Super Rugby is a domestic RL affair or a SH rugby union job.
My two stickies are IRB rankings and RWC qualifiers.
Either of which won't be spent come next Monday.

A few weeks back you were insisting that the SH posters should have their own "sticky" thread. That lead to me sticking the SXV previews ...

Actually Kiwi, I was suggesting that there should be a SH sticky for local conversation - like the pub.
But once established (like the pub) the standard teflon plating should be applied.
Peasy.

This sounds to me as if you are saying the pub is a solely NH thread, however I pretty sure it is open to all and spans the globe.

Re: How many v2 posters just scroll through the stickies?
1. Not absolutely certain how a 'Sticky' differs from a normal thread? (A title and printed comments within for both??? Yes?)
2. I seldom truly look at them much less enter them to read them.
3. My practice on 606 is usually to sign in, check out My Posts to re-familiarize myself with my own mind! I tend to forget what articles I've been...em, contributing to.
If My Posts have cobwebs on them I then just shoot straight to International or Club to see what the rugby world is talking about today. Anything relevant should always get a mention in there somewhere and then if you need detail you might get directed to a 'Sticky'.
So it's My Posts, International, Club and over and back in that manner.
One truly irritating point though is that signing in bit. I tend to go to the rugby page first and then sign in...but hey ho, the signing in 'helpfully' brings me back to the reception desk and makes me walk all the way upstairs to the rugby department again! My knees will go under the strain.

In all my life, and I guess I was around for the very beginning of ye olde internet...but I've never ever ticked that username and password box. I always go through the ritual.... Most pertinent reason for that is that I like to remember my Usernames and passwords...and over the eons have forgotten very many of each...some very important ones too. It's best to keep typing lest I forget.
Forgetting seems to be theme with me this morning!

Could we not just leave them up till the summer tours have finished.

Cymro, I'm planning on having stickied thread for each test - yesterday's ones are all fairly heavily posted on, and odds are that if we tried to make a thread do all 3 tests we'd hit the 1000-ish post wall where the board software starts deleting posts off the top of threads.
