The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Jedburgh
First topic message reminder :
Sláinte and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Jedburgh, home of Greig Laidlaw who kicked the winning points for Scotland on Tuesday night.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of all of the June Internationals debutants hanging over the bar.

It is self help now, but you have to go to the tap to get your own water, then the hops, the other stuff....
Then once you brewed it you can drink it.

Mornibng all
A quick question, then I am off out for a couple of hours.
I have been offered two tickets for Wimbledon centre court on Ladies Semi-final day. If anyone here os interested in one (or maybe both) of them, please PM me. I need to decide by lunchtime.
Cheers

We have 2 good defensive guys in Whelan and Andrews but they offer us nothing going forward but they have to due to a stupid formation. We were very unlucky with the 2nd (was a free out, and a feicing slice) and 3rd goals (how unlucky was that) but the Croats dominated us. We sat back, allowed them to come at us, like we did to Wales in the 6N. You let a team run at you they will cause you problems I don't care if it's fudging Lacrosse or Soccer, it's the golden rule. Croatia were full value for the win, we showed some promise when the game was over, McClean needs to start ahead of McGeady.
Might delve deeper tomorrow. But I'm off now.
T,
No need to deeply analyse it man. Ireland are still playing the same game as they did in 1988. Only this time, with shoite players.
There. That saved you a lot of soul-searching.
Gibbo I respectfully disagree. Ireland have a lot of very useful players who both started tonight and were left unused on the bench. Defensivly tonight they were both unlucky and naive.
I would agree more so with Willy, Gibbo. Ireland can play ball they just don't. They have incredibly good players who are both not playing (McClean, Long) and guys who didn't or couldn't travel (Clark,McCarthy,Hoolahan,Coleman). Trap consistently picks average players when there are guys who can do a better job available.

Got an email at the weekend. Tickets for the AI's are on sale to Supporters club members on Friday.
Not sure what my allocation will be but if anyone wants me to get them a couple for the SA game then PM me. I will most likely do the Supporters event again for the Argentina game.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Jedburgh
Hallo folks.
What a weekend, mixed the sublime with the ridiculous. Was out on Friday night with the work crew, we ended up in some nightclub which was full of reality TV “stars”, it was cringingly horrible. But we just took the pish out of them. which was fun. Up early then for the Ireland game, I was in ribbons but had to ready myself for a wedding in Carlingford for Amanda’s work mate, I started off slow but finished at 5am with a flourish. Was falling asleep watching the soccer last night and went to bed all depressed. Still feeling pickled after it all. won’t be right until the weekend I’d say.

Eh, two nights in a row. Finished at 2.30am Friday, up at 8am, back on the sauce at 3pm, didn't finish till 5am. If that aint stamina I don't know what is! I could have kept the fire going yesterday if i started early but i'd be yellow if i did!

Homer: Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute. Lisa honey, are you saying you're *never* going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad! Those all come from the same animal!
Homer: Yeah, right Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.

Mayor Quimby: All right, I'm in charge here.
Chief Wiggum: Oh, run along, Quimby. I think they're dedicating a phone booth somewhere.
Mayor Quimby: Watch it, you talking tub of donut batter.
Chief Wiggum: Hey, I got pictures of you, Quimby.
Mayor Quimby: You don't scare me, that could be anyone's ass. Now beat it! I'm calling the shots.
Chief Wiggum: I think that sash is cutting off the air to your brain! The town charter says, in an emergency I run the show!
That has to be the best exchange between Simpsons character ever. Up there with the best episodes too.
I made a Lasagna yesterday when people came over to watch the Euros yesterday. Had 4 star Saturday with a few lads watching it.

Waitress: How about I just shove a pig down your throat? (Homer looks excited)
Waitress: I was kidding.
Homer: Fine, but the bacon man lives in a bacon house!
Waitress: No he doesn’t!

Yeah, he caused a lot of trouble among the writers and producers. I'd say it might go downhill now, the creator left and a fair few writers left too. Some fellas who tried to bring "the IT crowd" to America took over.

Enough with the bacon On to a more current(ish) topic
Football Commentator: Well, Ron Manager, once again the pace and the tempo of that first half totally dictated by the boy wonder, Ryan Giggs.
Ron Manager: Cor, Ryan Giggs, you know? Giggsy, isn't it? Mmm? Giggsy-wiggsy? Mmm? Oh! Ryan-y Giggsy-wiggsy. Isn't it? You know, marvellous.
Tommy: Is he the new George Best?
Ron Manager: Is George Best the old Ryan Giggs? But Giggsy-wiggsy. Precocious talent, isn't he? Mmm? Ooh, got it all, you know? Speed, acceleration, sweet left foot, all the tricks - the dummy, the drop of the shoulder, the shimmy, nutmeg, jiggery-pokery, hocus pocus, abracadabra, I wanna reach out and grab ya. Steve Miller Band? Spin Doctors? Ooh, very similar.
Football Commentator: Thank you, Ron. Now, Tommy, it's interesting to see the diamond formation being used again.
Ron Manager: Diamond formation? Does anyone really know what that is? I mean, at least you knew where you were with Alf Ramsey's wingless wonders. You know? 4-4-2, 4-2-4, 4-3-3... 0898 654000, freephone double glazing?
Football Commentator: You've lost me there, Ron. Not sure about that particular formation. But, Tommy, do we need structure? Look at the Brazilians.
Ron Manager: Oh, those Brazilians, you know? Circa 1970? Broke the mould. Theory out the window. Free expression of football. Uncategorisable. Is that a word? It is now! You know? Far cry from small boys in the park, jumpers for goalposts. Rush goalie. Two at the back, three in the middle, four up front, one's gone home for his tea. Beans on toast? Possibly, don't quote me on that. Marvellous.

Very sad. The creator was sacked actually. A lot of the writers are unhappy about that. The guys who they have brought in I think are much more network 'Yes men'. It's a show that got its reputation for taking big creative risks and departing from the norm. I can't see that continuing now. I'd say it will jump the shark soon if not already.
But as Troy would say to that;
"You know, there was actually an episode of Happy Days where Fonzie really did jump over a shark, and it was the BEST ONE!"
