The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Jedburgh
First topic message reminder :
Sláinte and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Jedburgh, home of Greig Laidlaw who kicked the winning points for Scotland on Tuesday night.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of all of the June Internationals debutants hanging over the bar.

Love it Pete.

Twitter is where all the homeboys are at. It's a great tool to publicize yourself and follow funny people, so basically it is a bit of a waste of time.
Anyone here ever read Friday Night Lights? One of those books that is great even if you don't like the sport. You think we're dedicated to grass root sports, it's a whole different beast over there.

I have found a retro sweet shop in the high street that sells the fabled Hawick Balls much loved by the late Bill McLaren. I shall be sure to keep a quarter (sounds so much better than 100 grammes... pah..!!) handy throughout the season.
I thought they were a myth, but no...!! Very warming they will be when the season starts again and the wind driven sea spray howls off the Western Approaches and straight down the middle of the Mennaye Field pitch.
I may offer a sweetie to any hapless visitors caught out by the freezing gales we get here in winter. It's the least anyone can do.

My brother just told me the weirdest thing "Star Burns" is the guy who came up with the word crunk. A quick google search shows it's true! http://www.cracked.com/article_19584_7-ridiculous-origins-everyday-words.html

A word about last night. The Irish fans are the best. They are really showing the English up in this tournament. The photo of the lads with the Father Ted placards in front of the riot Police is excellent.

That sounds unbelievably mouth watering! I miss retro sweets, even though I'm actually too young to miss them.

Glas, going to an Irish soccer match abroad is fierce craic. Everyone gets behind the team. There's less passion when we're at home.
Welcome Jen, I'm liking your contribution to the "Wumming thread" on the soccer board. Judging from the google search I did they are some kind of butter mint? Not too shabby. Also in the last year has anyone noticed there is a ridiculous rise in sweet shops or retro sweet shops?

I haven't seen anything in the news about English fans, are they misbehaving? Or are we just showing them up because we're awesome? A lot of the people that travel with Ireland aren't die hard football fans, they're just on tour for fun, which is totally fair enough but it would be a contributing factor to our relitive popularity.

Two of it's stars are Thom- Yvette Nicole Brown who plays Shirley actually had a record deal as a teenager, released a commercial album and everything. So she made one album, went back to finish college, and then went back to LA- but she said the focus for female singers was on the looks and sex appeal, and you'd know from community she actually looks like a real woman. Which is a shame, because she has an absolutely stunning voice.

You won't be able to catch me, the young whippersnapper might though...... I suppose he is only in the top 10 for his age in Ulster, He is only a winger like probably can't tackle!

If you are being chased over hurdles he's #1 in Ulster, #3 in Ireland and #20 in UK atm.

Hmmm, If I'm being chased over hurdles by Poisson Jnr. the best strategy is to pick up a hurdle and throw it at him whilst I make good my escape
I would only do this with flimsy training hurdles. Actual hurdles as used in competition would do some serious damage as a projectile!

The BEST option would be to put the hurdles on the wrong marks.

I've voted for Ozzys better half in that poll earlier, but I didn't tell anyone. I should make Pete aware that I voted in order to publicly confirm I've fulfilled the social contract of being asked for a favour and hopefully strengthen the interpersonal bond between us. I'm trying to work on stuff like this all the time.
The Sheldon Cooper of the pub.
Good luck with the poll Ozzy!

You know that annoying out of time brass band that follows the England football team around and knows, like, two tunes?
Well today for the first time in about two decades they were denied entry to the stadium. I want to sympathise with the fans- after all they are no doubt passionate football fans who didn't get to see their team- but... can't say I missed them
