The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Jedburgh
First topic message reminder :
Sláinte and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Jedburgh, home of Greig Laidlaw who kicked the winning points for Scotland on Tuesday night.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of all of the June Internationals debutants hanging over the bar.

Asboe,
Is that the Tim MacVisser who is Dutch and wanted to play for England till he discovered he had to live there for the full 3 years and he had left to live in Scotland before the full time so decided he would play for them instead?

Hmm, similar, but not quite the same. I don't think the 3 years in England was the deterrent, simply that he wasn't playing that well there after he left his English school but was snapped up by Edinburgh. Sort of like Strauss?MrsP wrote:Asboe,

Thanks for all the welcomes. My overcautiousness with booking my train back to Chester has left me with three hours to kill in Euston.
Tanzania was fantastic, lots to tell but for the moment I am just knackered after the past 6 weeks. I can't remember the last time I got up later than 7!

Like Strauss except that he only ever tried to qualify for one country through residency, not 2.
He was very close to being English though, wasn't he?
I also heard that he thought he could still qualify for England if he kept his house there but played for Edinburgh and that was why he agreed to move when he was so close to his objective of Englishness. The sudden desire for haggis was Plan C, no?

He didn't try to qualify for England thru residency as far as i know, unless his time at boarding school in England counted (I doubt that cos his 'home' was still in Holland). I think the second part of your rumour may simply be scuttlebutt? I'll leave it to you to validate if you wishMrsP wrote:Like Strauss except that he only ever tried to qualify for one country through residency, not 2.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Jedburgh
Could be Asboe but he had declared a desire to play for a "Home Nations" side, played for England at Schools level and played in the AP in 2006 so I would guess that counted as resident.
I have no idea where I heard the bit about the house but the suggestion was he thought he would still be resident if he owned a house in ?Newcastle and only found out that if wouldn't count after he agreed to sign for Edinburgh. At the time he was said to have been within a very short time of qualifying for England on residency.
Excellent player who should be playing International rugby at the highest level but there is something about his shifting Nationality which grates a bit.
Do you think he would have made the England team if he had been eligible?

Morning all
Grand to see you back safe and well Munsty. Seen some of your pics on faceache and looks like you had a great time.
Not long now til the Heino draw. Not overly concerned with who gets who as my team's not in it, but there are two teams that must be drawn together.
Ulster and Exeter Chiefs.
Cross your fingers people, you know it makes sense!

Big game for the Irish u20s tonight. Given their narrow loss to the English last week, they really need to put a number on the Italians today. Ruddocks rung the changes. Notably he's moved Nelson up to 13. Suftim!

Warn "her" about what?
Welcome Jennifer (E)
I'm wary about posters called Jennifer. Assuming that they are female can come as a shock as I found out when I met Jennifer McLadyboy recently in Dublin
Munsty, Welcome back pal. Hope you had a great time.

Hook, Tipuric and I think Charteris scored.
Shingler and Brew off during the half with Delve and Cuthbert on.
