The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Jedburgh
First topic message reminder :
Sláinte and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Jedburgh, home of Greig Laidlaw who kicked the winning points for Scotland on Tuesday night.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of all of the June Internationals debutants hanging over the bar.

I had slight hysterics when I first saw the group but have calmed down now, and font actually feel so bad about it. Wish I had a better idea of how we can play with Easterby in charge, but I can't wait for it! Tough games. We've got to.aim.to win 4, with anything on top being a bonus
And just think of all the reg meet ups!

I do wish though that Munster could have got some more exciting teams. I mean nobody supports Racing, Saracens or Edinburgh. They have about 5 fans between the three of them.

I am hoping for a few things Santa
1. Leinster v Exeter in Dublin when we are in Castres.
2. Our away game against Saints coinciding with Chiefs at home the same weekend (but not the same day)
3. Our away game against Glasgow coinciding with Munsters away game against Edinburgh.
That'll do for now

Ooh that would be good. I'd link in with you for that. Last year I got to see all four provinces play in the Heineken Cup and would love to do the same again.

Decent group for Munster, could see us getting through it.
Question for Kiwi, would there be interest in a review of the draw I have something up in the writer's section about it.

Not quite, you need less vowels, more consonants, then you'll end up with this:
" sospan fach yn berwi ar y tan
Sospan fawr yn berwi ar y llawr"
There, that's much better

Congrats Penf, Prop, Lucky, Cari, Dreamer, Glas and all the other Welsh regs on the Wales #XV win over the Brumbies ^XV.
It must feel good to see a win for the lads but I hope there are no knee jerk reactions and changes and your best team is selected for Saturday. Should be a better game for both teams with some problems ironed out and confidence levels building... hopefully.
Oz 1 -1 Japan. Had them on the ropes but blew several chances. Generally Oz too physical, Japan no attack. Frustrating to watch.
What I hate about the game: absolute nutcase Saudi ref - at one time hugging players?? (wtf!) then giving them yellow and red cards.
Oz survived 34mins with 10 men, Japan got their red card later. It was awful. Totally irrational behaviour. Unbelievable.
Just glad it's over.
There... I feel better now.

Not on this performance tonight Thomond.
They were rattled. Pathetic. Weak. They complained about the pitch (which was the same one used for the Sat game) but never had the possession for long and couldn't create anything. The goal was a stuff up in the box by Oz which was against the run of play - but Oz had more ball and were pressing Japan's goal more. More shots and near misses though. We also had them psychologically on the back foot for most of the game.
If they win a World Cup in the next 20 years... then so can Ireland, Wales... maybe even Scotland... if they can dig up the right 50 people to beat Japan in the Future FIFA Final. (keep that crazy ref away though - he should be nowhere near the game!)

I dunno breaker, sounds like that ref would liven things up in the Euros
That said, I thoroughly enjoyed what I saw of the Ukraine-Sweden game. Genuine passion and genuinely meaningful for a whole nation. Thats what sport should be. Hope Ukraine win it now Ireland are dead in the water...

If you look at the work Japan have put in and the work they continue to put in towards their underage structures and the football game in general you will realise they are not far away from making a big brekathrough. Their aim is to win the world cup by 2050, they could win it before then. A lot can change in 20 years. Twenty years ago Ireland had a rubbish rugby side and now........ The provinces were nothing 20 years ago.
Notch we only have to beat Spain and Italy like I actually think Ireland are better set up to deal with Spain, they will lose though.

Believe me Thomond, if Ireland can beat Spain AND Italy there'll be a lot more people than the likes of me hoping they can win the thing! Though I would be ecstatic, despite my totally ambivalent and confused feelings about Irish and Northern Irish football on the international stage.

Notch, I find it a bit weird, I know a lot of us "southerners" who wish Northern Ireland well any time they are on TV. I remember screaming my head off when they beat England and Spain a few years back. But N.I. people don't seem to feel the same. A shame really.
