Fury v Chagaev Empty Fury v Chagaev

Post by Seanusarrilius Fri 08 Jun 2012, 2:21 pm

I saw on Eastside this morn that some of the comments being left referenced this as a possible fight in July. Anyone heard about this? Good fight for Fury if it comes off. Former champ, who is on the slide. What do you think?

Great fight for him. He should do the business and will be a good scalp and name to have on his resume.

Fury is down to fight on 7th July on Channel 5, this would be a great test and prove that he does indeed have bigger fish to fry than domestic champion David Price.

I think this would be a decent step up in class to be honest. I see a comfortable victory for Tyson in this fight, maybe via late stoppage.

I really want to see Price vs Fury to be fair. It may not be a step up in class so to speak, but i think he would more then likely get pasted.

See what happens.

Was thoroughly dominated by povetkin BUT is a step in the right direction and should be interesting while it last. Chagaev is a small heavyweight but can be bullish if not one dimensional

Fury needs to fight these types of opponents to progress

Since chisora he has fought nobodies, Chagaev should have been the fight instead of firtha etc

He would get some respect from me if he beats Chagaev. I've been a harsh critic of Fury but if can win this in style then fair play.

I am normally very critical of Fury but wouldn't knock this fight if it's made.

The difference is if Fury was defending a legit world title against him i'd complain but as he's not a champ he's under less pressure and not a bad fight for someone with fairly little experience as he's tough and durable.

Good fight and, if he wins, increases the gap between he and Price.

Fury should beat Chagaev IMO. Perfect timing to fight hima s he is on the slide, aslo lacks power at HW and gives the Fury critics (of which I am one) a decent scrap to judge him on

great name and another step up in opposition, and another step which i feel price's people wouldnt be willing to take.

i read a tweet from fury's trainer saying they offered mormeck the fight but he opted to move back down to cruiser.

that would have been a good name too.

could be a difficult fight for fury, and would show hes willing to step up his level of opposition. chisora and chagaev would be two good names on his record

A step in the right direction I guess. Fury must be absolutely GUTTED that he can't defend his Irish Title though, what a pity!

I agree. Chagaev is no mug and has experience of being in with the big boys. I don't think he will just go Gung Ho like the last few of Furys opponants. Well I hope not

Chagaev has been done since the Hep illness. Would still be a good scalp for Fury and I don't see Ruslan giving him any problems.

Is he allowed to fight here (UK) with Hep?

I don't think he would be. Seem to recall reading that he wouldn't be allowed, when a possible fight with Haye was mooted.

In that case he isn't fighting Chagaev then. Or maybe they may have it in Eire. Doubtful though. Maybe he's fighting some other guy.

A decent fight but isn't going to make up for ducking the fight with Price.
