I Don't Mind Having A Late Lunch
It's shocking watching the first mens semi final at Roland Garros and seeing row upon row of empty corporate seats. Those that could be occupying them and watching one of the great sporting occasions of the year are no doubt enjoying a leisurely lunch. This makes the atmosphere flat in the stadium and also does not look good as it looks as if no-one wants to watch.
I am tempted to say something political about privilege and the greed of some having more than they need or could ever use. Instead in the spirit of the times I will offer a soluton and even some practical help.
I will volunteer to sit on one of the corporate seats for the duration of the first semi. This will keep the seat warm for its future occupant and make the event look like it is as popular as it no doubt is... and of course I would quite enjoy the view. I would of course doff my cap and slink off once the seat was needed. It would be a win, win situation. The only slight downside would be that I might get a little peckish whilst I was sitting there. I think I could put up with that as I don't mind having a late lunch...

If I had been there today I would have taken a very light lunch at midday, watched the first set (to be precise until the change of ends when Rafa got to 5-2) then I would probably have gone off for a drink and to supplement the meagre lunch knowing that the match was over. I would have been interested to watch a bit of Errani if that is possible.

I feel sorry for the fans who turned for the match, it was really a disgusting performance by Ferrer.

It's not just at RG, sadly the same thing happens at all the Majors and the Masters 1000 events these days.
As for invisiblecoolers' crass, mean-spirited comment, I thought Ferrer gave his all and played as well as he's played all tournament. Just up against an unstoppable genius today.

I was there and entered the stadium with a bag full of food. It is not rocket science. But I suppose some people don't like to sit in an enclosed space and watch tennis for 6-8 hours. Although had they known about the rain delays they could have got lunch then.
