Wipe your wrestling memory
Well a 2 part thread here really
Firstly - can you remember when you first fell in love with wrestling??
I can remember it clearly - I had just got Sky TV in house and the first channel that flashed up was Sky Sports - and Monday night Raw was on.
It was in October/November 1995 just before the Survivor Series PPV where Bret Hart faced Diesel. I instantly took a liking to Razor Ramon and he is still my favourite wrestler of all time and I remember being devasted when he left for WCW (before I knew it was shown on TNT)
And secondly…...
If you wiped your wrestling memory today and tuned into WWE/TNA this week…………what superstars do you think you would instantly take a liking to?

Re: Wipe your wrestling memory
1. Watching Sunday Night Heat on a sunday night (obviously!!!) after a long game of Rugby in the day. I remember Eddie Guerrero doing his triple suplex thing and instantly loving it. (I'd always wanted to become a stuntman and strangely WWF **as it was back then** seemed to appeal to me as stunt like). However, the more and more I watched it, the more I became engaged in the storylines and superstars.
2. If I tuned in now...Well, probably HHH (If he was to wrestle)...and probably Edge. I like his style a lot.

Started watching wrestling around the time the Taker joined the WWF as it was then. Was hooked always liked the high flyers and guys like Shawn Micheals and the more technically gifted guys like Bret Hart.
If I was to tune in for the first time now it would be AJ Styles one of the best athletes on the planet just a joy to watch.

It was around 1989 and it was The Ultimate Warrior, If WrestleMania XXVII was my first ever event i think Triple H would be the guy I'd like most tho thats weird because I'm not a fan of his at all

It was about 1990 and the Legion of Doom were one of the main reasons i tuned in. If i hadnt watched wrestling before and tuned in now, i'd probably turn it straight off to be honest!! Although out of all the characters, CM Punk has an element of appeal about him, and not in a gay way you homos!

I'm not really sure when or why I first got into professional wrestling. I think it may have been around the time WCW was on ITV, but Wrestlemania 4 seems to be my oldest memory. Bret Hart and Sid Vicious were the 2 that immediately appealed to me at that age (of 4). I honestly don't know who would catch my attention quickest if I just tuned in today. CM Punk maybe.

Re: Wipe your wrestling memory
Watching WCW on Saturday afternoons on ITV first got me interested in wrestling, I used to watch British wrestling on World of Sport prior to that but wasn't a huge fan. Then one of my mates got Sky and would tape WWF shows & PPV's for me and that blew me away.
If I got into wrestling nowadays as a kid I'd probably be a fan of Randy Orton, because he's a babyface who's talented and he's not Superman Cena. Part of the reason I loved WORYAH! as a kid was that he wasn't Hulk Hogan.

1. The summer of 1991, although it wasn't until Flair debuted and the snake bit Savage on the arm that I was hooked.
2. If I was 11 and got into it now with no insider knowledge or whatnot, I don't think I'd like Cena but I think I'd like most of the other top babyfaces. Rey, Edge, Orton, 888, Undertaker, etc. If I got into it now as a 31 year old with no insider knowledge....I still think I'd go for the babyfaces first. Except Cena and Rey maybe.
It's really tough to answer the second question actually because my mind is so clouded by being a wrestling fan for 20 years and knowing about individual's reputations and so on. I reckon most people at any age would find the babyfaces more appealing at first.

Like Davies I think it was the summer of 1991 also, I remember the Savage snake bite thing scaring the hell outta me. Got into it through my big bro. Bret HArt was the guy I first liked and that never changed. First match I can remember watching was his match with Perfect at 1991.
Starting fresh now, I'd probably like John Morrison, CM Punk and the Undertaker.

Re: Wipe your wrestling memory
mine was probarly 1995 and my first clearest memory would be Micheals vs Razor Ramon in the ladder match at Summerslam. my favourite was bret hart at the time when it moved on a couple of years i liked bret and austin. Even though the first whole event i can remember isn't until IYH:Badd Blood in 1997
Starting fresh now i would probarly like the wrestlers more in the mould of these two like Cm Punk,William Regal and Dolph Ziggler
