New IRB Directive
I was unaware of the new IRB directive imposed on scrum halves this weekend which means they are required to wait a minimum of 2 minutes before passing the ball from the back of the ruck or maul. Mike Phillips was heard saying, "it'll probably speed my service up", Houggard said, "2 minutes is not enough". Scrum Halves WTF

Re: New IRB Directive
That's odd.
The memo they got at the ARU had "2 seconds"...

That's odd - the Irish memo said a deck chair, some kindling, a box of matches some sausages and a frying pan was a requirement for our scrum halves. I think the IRB are up to something!

See this is weird, the WRU were told it's players were'nt allowed to tackle the opposing scrumhalve, just watch him race around the pitch and attempt to second guess him.

Ruby.
Getting the ball off Genia is like trying to get a saliva-covered tennis ball (with no felt left on it) off a short-haired fox terrier on a beach.... nigh on impossible!
Ever tried to do that?

Re: New IRB Directive
There was another IRB directive that said all SH scrum halves must put the ball straight at the second rows feet

Now now, Aaron Smith got pinged for doing that on Saturday.

which was harsh as the ref had told him to feed it.

How about telling Connor Murray just to get the ball in, go on Connor, let's have a game

Again it was harsh the second time as both props had their hands on the ground blocking the tunnel.

Re: New IRB Directive
one scrum half being pinged does not mean the it's right. The scrum is becoming a pointless waste of time.

Re: New IRB Directive
Do you reckon most NH scrum halfs practice funding about at the back of each ruck. I would love to see a training session at which Chris Cusiter perfects his technique of just staring at the ball which is at his feet!! Oh,yes and then he flaps his arms around pointlessly for another 30 seconds before resuming staring at the ball again

Re: New IRB Directive
Isnt one of the trial laws addressing this?
Also they did send out an instruction to refs to concentrate on penalising the attacking side for breakdown offences if they are playing slow drives.
