The Under-Rated Faletau
Dear Esteemable Poster Friends. Now is the end of my language course about England and I write the final paper to get a mark. I wonder if you can spare some minutes and checking my write about rugby (of course) and then I can get the pass and start to make mentor teaching position to other people arrive! And also if you want to make the comment about my thinking is good too!
The Under Rated Faletau:
So much talk always surround the build up to a Wales international rugby match about what George North (The Welsh Lomu) will do. His fire-breathing 7 feet frame and impregnatable biceps are occupy the newspaper inches that once taken up by the odd-coloured Welshman Gavin Henson.
But another Welshman, Faletau was filling many forum inches after Wales shock loss to Australia. Most of it not so kind. The accusation was he fail to make enough distance carrying the ball. He couldn't break the defense line and he was shy about making tackles.
This remarks are in a contrast to his media profile in recent time. Such shining praise as the following sentence were made about him as recent time as last year's world cup finals when Wales themself earned top marks for what was view as a successful campaign.
"Man of the match in that semi-final defeat, Toby Faletau, has been one of the standout players in this tournament, with both his defence and work rate in attack going unrivalled by any other player in the competition. He has made both more carries and tackles than any other player and he will once again be a key figure for Warren Gatland’s men going into this Bronze Final."
Even the famous Wales player with much more authentic ring to the same Martyn Williams descibe this man with a shower of respectfulness "He is phenomenal, the most naturally gifted rugby player I have ever played with".
So what occur now, that such a player was made the subject of some blame for the poor show of Wales on Saturday? It transpire after the game that Faletau suffer an injury and has now been replace in team by Garth Delve.
Is it possible that this injury was the cause behind the criticism given to Toby Faletau after the game? And in turn was his appartently poor showing a key to unlock the riddle of the Welsh loss?
In a land that love the open fluent running style known as "The Welsh Way", is too much emphasised on the glamour of a strong fast running finisher? and too little credit given about a player who is make his mark in the unglamorous engine room behind an impressive Welsh scrum?
Just my thoughts.

Although it might have been in poor taste, you are taking that completely out of context. What he said was; odd coloured welshman. Obviously referring to the fact he is Tongan. He is not calling Faletau "odd coloured". There is a difference.

Odd coloured refers directly to skin colour. It's discrimination whatever way you look at it.

He is not writing in his first language and something clearly got lost in translation. I dont think it was meant to be racist. Don't jump down his throat over it.
Faletau had a broken bone in his arm for much of that match. He has also had a awful end to the season with the Dragons in free fall. It's no suprising he is a little off form.

Re: The Under-Rated Faletau
Sorry CurlyOsp I thank you for this prespective and know that it can make offending so I appologise.
For me was just said "tongue-in-cheek" way to mention that Faletau comes from Pacific Island by heritage and that also make a nice way to segue from mention Henson and North and move on the topic.
I didn't mean to make an imply that Wales fans might overlook this talent or make scapegoat because of race.
But I will take this out and make a new idea because I don't want to sound like Ukranian football fan.

Nope, you are being over sensitive. He is referring to the fact he is a tongan in Wales.

I love AWOP, genuinely. If you're a WUM, good on you, you're hilarious and quite original and sometimes insightful to the point of proper satire.
If you're genuine, you are a character, brave to test your second language on this forum, improving in said language and still quite funny and insightful.
I am really not sure which is the case but frankly I don't care

Re: The Under-Rated Faletau
For what it is worth about Faletau, he has had some HUGE games for the Dragons. I really want to see him do this for Wales, to see him play a much more expansive running game, but he doesn't. He has real pace and power, but we never see it. Just his tackle count.

I have edited the OP. AWOP, it is probably not a good idea to makr jokes about race, some may misinterpret your intent at being funny as offensive.

Meat eater
But it will be seriously help if you can explain me why is OK to call Henson odd-colouring but not Faletau? Both is just a joke and to me is more ok because Faletau is real Tongan but Henson not real martian. My country doesnt have this angry about talk about where someone come from and what colour is their body to the normal for that country and I am worry that I make people annoying by accident.

Answer: That is a stupid question, and you are looking for something to be offended about. He was clearly making a joke about the fact he is a Tongan in Wales. Seriously, people love to get offended over the silliest things. This kind of thing always reminds me of this quote:

He called him a odd coloured Welshman.
You found nothing wrong with that,,, So I will ask the question in another way again ,, What colour is a Welshman and what would be a odd coloured Welshman

Stop pretending it was meant to be a joke,, You know full well that AWOP has perfect English and that post was designed to be offensive.
