The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Christchurch
First topic message reminder :
Kia ora and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Christchurch, as it prepares to host its first test match in over 2 years. While reconstruction continues post-earthquake there's plenty of vacant lots for the pub to "occupy".
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Llanelli legend Nigel Davies, and local heroes Richie McCaw and Dan Carter.

Congrats to Biltong and the young Boks. They wsnted that game so much more than England. Can't help thinking what might have happened if Jackson had dished out a deserved yellow for that blatant killing of the ball by SA in the 2nd half with the scores close.
In fact it was worth two yellows for kulling the ball and taking the scrummie out before he even had his mitts on it.
Sour grapes, moi.

It was a moment of genius Glas, a chara. So much in this game. History, passion, skill and bragging rights.
Russia by far the strongest. But that didnt hold the Poles back, when Lech Walesa met his missus at a Gdansk.

If your arse is on fire, you should get yourself checked out Gibbo.... I don't want to know what you're up to with the Missus like....
Great game Poland's goal was as good as you'll see. Great passing, lovely movement, and a fantastic finish. Poland may not be as good technically but they're giving it their all (they also have the correct tactics but that's another issue). That's what disappointed me most about Ireland the other night.

If you don't bother people they won't bother you. I have been at matches in Linfield, Cyprus, Greece and a few other countries dubbed dangerous. It's a standard practice.

I was at Euro '88 and I had different experiences. Was also in Windsor Park back when. That, mo chara, is what is going down now - in PolKrainje. Sorry man, but you are naive, if you think that in this comp.
For the 1st time in Irish soccer History.. even Paddies got nicked. I blame Ryanair for letting OUR Poopie out to travel. They were always there. They just couldnt afford to travel.
This comp will boil over, when and if Poland and/or Ukraine get knocked out. Believe me. It will happen. And innocents will get get caught up in it, whether they like it or not.
Sad. But true.

Fair enough we've both had different experiences. Some scum turn up for the big day that happens in every event soccer, rugby, ice hockey. I've never had problems and maybe you've had and I'm sorry if you have experienced it. A lot of people bring the damage on themselves, I wouldn't say many innocent people get victimised.

Rava, Linfield have a bit of a reputation for a bit of hassle during Setanta Cup games (LOI V Irish League competition) and a they are known for having some crazy fans anyway. Was also in Italy for a Lazio match when I was in school.

T,
I have been through it. Really nasty stuff all over, And Im a chilled-out hippy. I agree with you, in that you have to be aware and avoid it. Not bring it to you. I always have been.
I saved my bro and Dad from a stabbing in 88. Hooligans. Leeds fans as it happens.
English football has moved on better than every other football nation since then. But not in Nederland, Italy and Eastern Europe especially now.
You could have a really bad reaction, when and if one of the home teams goes out here. For sure. Its palpable.
Thank Allah that was a draw.

I suppose things were different back then I have only really been abroad for those games since 2005 or so. It's a lot better now but you have to be smart if you want to avoid the dodgy spots, particularly in countries like Eastern Europe. If you don't go looking for it you should avoid it, but you never know.

Argentinian rugby is really growing, from roots-up and it is glorious to behold. Feeelippeee, led a team of 2nd stringers oot v a strong Italy last weekend and beat them. Great to see. Not so good for a developing Italia mind.
