The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Christchurch
First topic message reminder :
Kia ora and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Christchurch, as it prepares to host its first test match in over 2 years. While reconstruction continues post-earthquake there's plenty of vacant lots for the pub to "occupy".
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Llanelli legend Nigel Davies, and local heroes Richie McCaw and Dan Carter.

Then it's gather the kids, quick tea and off to physio and then 2 different sets of athletics (as long as the physio gives the wee lad the thumbs up!)

Did the piano pass...?

Jennifer,
I think the "real" one did but the one in the practice room definately failed!
High C didn't sound which was kinda off putting for a 10 year old.
As to whether the piano player passed, time will tell.

Thats why the guitar is better
Just kidding, pianos are better. For beginners, guitars go insidiously out of tune just enough that they can't notice. But the examiner can. Especially cheaper guitars (which are played more by beginners).

I had such a guitar Notch.
I loved tuning it though.
The violin is the same.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Christchurch
The violin is MUCH WORSE. Not only does it have all the problems of guitar in tuning it's unfretted and therefore allows the performer to use microtones. This is something advanced players do in contemporary atonal music.
But for beginners? So hard to get it to sound 'in tune' at first.

It hasn't been as painful as I had expected Notch.
Occasionally her wee fingers don't quite reach far enough and it sounds as flat as a pancake but generally the neighbours cat doesn't have anything to worry about!
Off to physio for the verdict!

I'm off to deliver a Fire Awareness training session to a room full of ladies.
Good luck Ireland I hope I'm back in time for the second half.
And good luck to the Irish golfers in San Francisco. Harrington has started steadily.

I feel like there is a lot of negativity for us Irish sports/rugby fans since the double blow of last weekend. So lets try and be a bit more positive.

I predicted 4-0 to Spain when talking to a mate at work earlier and by the looks of the Irish defence so far I may have been a bit kind to them.

Yah Ozzy. Agree. This could be really painful to watch from an Irish perspective. Spanish are rampant.

Thing is Gibbo, Ireland have looked as if they might create chances as well, but it's no good if they are going to leak goals as well. This Spain side is beatable, but you must be solid at the back.

Evening all. Everyone well? What do folks think of a 'Six Degrees of Separation' thread - kind of works along the like of the 'Who Am I? ' thread in that someone kicks of with one to solve and the winner sets the next one. So, for example, say Gareth Steenson to Sean Maitland - Steeno plays alongside Hoani Tui who once played for Wellington against Canterbury whom Maitland now plays for. Would it work? Shortest connection posted in half an hour or first to post a connection that meets the Six Degrees criteria tho?

Best chances will come at set-pieces. Its their only hope. But as you say, the Spanaish are ripping that defence apart at will.
Still... must keep the Faith.

My friend put a fiver on Ireland at 50-1 a minute after the Spanish scored. Thats belief.]
And a waste of money. But, great belief.

Shortest in a set time I reckon, see how that goes first, if it doesn't work, then try the quickest route

I heard on the radio earlier that Ladbrokes had Ireland at 14-1 to win, and that it was the longest odds any team has ever been in the history of the European Championships.

Ozzy, I can generate IP Addresses (for votes) at will. Is that cheating or do you care? Cos I think her main competitor is doing it. She had 40 votes in 15/20 mins. Very suss.
So I added 26 votes myself, to balance it out this morn. Shussh.

This is betfair I think (might be wrong about the bookie), live odds shifting. They went out to 50-1 then started to come back once money went onto Spain. More sensible money some would say.
You'll never beat the Irish. Terms and conditions apply.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Christchurch
I have to give evidence in Crown Court tomorrow and I just know that the defence barrister is going to try to tear me to pieces in cross examination. Normally I am well up for a bit of verbal sparring but I am so knackered after a draining fortnight at work I'm not sure I have the fire inside to do the job justice. Hopefully will get a good night sleep and be all good tomorrow.
Slightly random there I know, but just wanted to get it off my chest as I am a little nervous about it which is unlike me.

Gibbo, if you can do that then I care not if it is considered cheating as it will keep the wife smiling if she wins and that's one of the main priorities in my life. Therefore, having helped me achieve it I will love you long time

Ah sure the badgering will be fine, I just want to make sure that we don't let our victims down in this one. The defendant is somebody who is a danger and needs a spell behind bars. Our case is strong and he has no real defence which usually means the defence attack the investigation to try to muddy the waters and create doubt in the minds of the jury.
I think you may be right about the wifes competitor cheating as well mate, as she's just gone up from 230 votes to 280 in about 20 minutes!
