The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Christchurch
First topic message reminder :
Kia ora and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Christchurch, as it prepares to host its first test match in over 2 years. While reconstruction continues post-earthquake there's plenty of vacant lots for the pub to "occupy".
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Llanelli legend Nigel Davies, and local heroes Richie McCaw and Dan Carter.

Back in De Dam, Peadar. Getting nervous for tomorrow.
Nederland's whole assault on this thing rests on drawing with, or beating - the Germans of all people. It will be tense.
WW3.

Cari wrote:Afternoon pub. Hope everyone's well and good. Feel a bit myself. Bit of a lousy day, but there we are. It's over. It all started so promising as well after a brilliant dream I had last night too. Pleased that Wales won their match. Of course I didn't see it at work, but I read that the O's boys did well...
I see the O's have got Toulouse, Treviso (again!) and Leicester (uh-gain!)...I'm not sure how we'll do next season. Of course I'd love to see them flourish this time, but I don't know...am a bit nervous about it all. See how it goes.
Ooh and well done Babi Bechgyn!! Show the grown-ups how it's done...
Cari,
The O's have the wherewithall to beat any of those teams now. Home and Away.
Believe.

Glas - you need to fire your goalkeeper!
So with Wales beating Samoa, does this mean we are through to another RWC semi-final??

They are 7-5 up v Fiji after half an hour. Don't they need a tbp to qualify?

Right, what is the status of Ireland if the scores stay the same between South Africa and England

As it stands Ireland are top, but the baby Boks only need one more try for the TBP and have 20 minutes to get it, in which case they will top the pool.

so England are out too? Have they ever not made the SF?
I've Wales do the incredible and manage to beat NZ again, it would surely make the final easier (Honestly don't think we'll get there, NZ will be out to destroy us! then again, ya never know....)
England have been impossible for us to beat for years now.

Ireland... so close to getting into the semi-finals from a group with last years beaten finalists and the host nation. A brave effort. A (spit, shudder) moral victory some would say
Wales have done absolutely brilliantly this year haven't they? Hope they keep it up. Would be nice to see another name on the trophy, though I don't really care who it is once it's not the Baby Blacks in truth.
Ireland beating South Africa and Wales beating New Zealand has made this the most interesting JWC since it began imo.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Christchurch
Its all kicking off just before the Poland v Russia game in the streets. Payback time for the former USSR sattelites and it will get worse imo. Its simmering to boiling point.
They should have done what they did in Ned/Bel 2000, to keep the then English, German & Dutch hooligans under control. They handed out free joints.
"Want a fight you foreign basterds!?
"Ah no man Im grand now."
"Funnily enough, me too now man. Fancy a drink and a shot at my GF pal?"
"Only if you let me buy you a drink 1st comrade"
"Id love one mate. And thanks yeah?"
Lovely-jubbly...

Notch - to you Irish too then
For Wales it's the difference between having a squad of 18yr olds last year (I still have horrors at that 92-0 result!), to having mainly 19-20yr olds this year. Added to that we've brought in about 14 players I think since the 6N's who were missing then as they were playing for the regions instead, so we've got that experience brought in too.
Will have to up our game massively to play NZ in the semi final now though!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Christchurch
For a glorious period in the early 15th Century much of Wales was ruled by Owain Glyndwr. If Harry Hotspur hadn't been so, well, hot headed and if the King of France hadn't have lost his marbles, England and Wales would be three countries, one Welsh, one French and one Northern. France would have won the Hundred Year War. My point was that then war between the nations was a living memory, as WWII is in these countries now.

To be fair Poland have been playing the better footy here for sure, wouldn't mind a draw really. Hope that calms the fans down a bit, can't believe the scenes they've been showing from today. Horrible.

I have had another message from Toril. Short and sweet: -
Alec wants to thank you all again for your wishes and concern
He insists he's fine and simply needs time to heal.
I asked he when she was going to get to Holland: -
I will go at the end of next week
