The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Christchurch
First topic message reminder :
Kia ora and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Christchurch, as it prepares to host its first test match in over 2 years. While reconstruction continues post-earthquake there's plenty of vacant lots for the pub to "occupy".
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Llanelli legend Nigel Davies, and local heroes Richie McCaw and Dan Carter.

Rod Squad, the video is blocked but I heard it on the radio this morning (Douchebag alert: it was while I was working out ) He has a point does our Keano. There are soem sports in Ireland where we strive for greatness. Boxing and Golf being two of them while some of our athletes in the Olympics are also strivign to be the best. Sonia back in the day, Derval,, Gillick now. There's also that paralympic sprinter who won 2 golds in Beijing. His name escapes me but he wants to compete in the regular Olympics too. That's the attitude we need guys to have. Some of the Irish soccer team think they are better than they are.
The Underage structure needs to change somewhat but there are some good guys coming through.
One of my former Rugby coaches managed to get Drain cleaner in his face (and eye) a few weeks back. Thankfully he's alrigh, splash back is feicing awful!
I remember Oscar Petorious had to fight really hard to be allowed to compete in general competition, they were against it because he had an unfair advantage because of his blades you can't make that stuff up

Jason Smyth.
Amazing guy.
Hasn't quite made the Olympic A standard yet this season except the other week but unfortunately the wind was too high to allow it to count!

The book man has just delivered some samples to work.
There is a recipe book called The Home-made Sweet Shop that I'm currently flicking through.
Just come across a section that contains recipes for Pulled Taffies. That really has made me

Salt-water taffy sounds heavenly, I may just have to purchase this book and have a go. The only sweets I've ever made before are peppermint creams though so this could be another almost vertical learning curve!
EDIT: I just found a recipe for Pontefract Cakes!! That's it, decision made. I AM having this book

He did run it in Florida about 2 weeks ago but the wind was +3.6
His (legal) S.B. is 10.24 and he ran 10.22 last season.
He gave up a spot in the Diamond League meet in New York to have another go on that fast Florida track but the conditions were not good.
I would love to see him reach both Olympics this year.

Rava, there is! Good thinking.
Pete, sorry I'm a techno klutz, what exactly is a torrent site?
TT, it contains caster sugar, cornflour, golden syrup, butter, water and sea salt. Should be soft and chewy.
Hughie, PM received, will reply shortly, someone just asked me to do some work!

MrsP wrote:That is one of the newer ones. You could try Loratidine as an alternative.
You can buy a generic version in Tesco or it is sold as Claritin. It might be less sedating for you. Everyone is effected differently.
I generally buy the "24 hour" cetarazine hydroxide tablets (Boots used to have a really cheap budget version that was half the price of even their own-label version). They work pretty well for me, and I haven't noticed any extra drowsiness from them. Loratidine doesn't do a thing for me though.

That is the one Bikkies is talking about.
I use whichever is cheapest at the time as both work for me and my fellow hay fever sufferer son.
Neither make me drowsy.

Well certainly and combination of any antihistamine and alcohol is likely to produce drowsiness!
I'm not a drinker and I well remember the effect of one glass of wine in combination with a short acting antihistamine! I felt like I'd drunk the whole bottle or someone had moved the restaurant to the deck of a ship!

I don't want to sound like I'm teaching granny to suck eggs*, Mrs P, but wine has a higher alcohol content than beer and so your one glass of wine may have been around 12% ABV, compared to beer, which is usually around 3 - 4% ABV. It's not surprising that you were affected.
Women, in general, have a higher risk for problems than men. When a woman drinks, the alcohol in her bloodstream typically reaches a higher level than a man’s even if both are drinking the same amount. This is because women’s bodies generally have less water than men’s bodies. Because alcohol mixes with body water, a given amount of alcohol is more concentrated in a woman’s body than a man's.
As with any medicines, always read the label or the leaflet in the box hunny. xx

PS.... Not inferring you're a granny or old or anything...... it's just a saying. I'll shut up now, before I dig a bigger hole for myself. LOL

As a born and bred Christchurchian I feel I must make a contribution to this thread.
So the Dalai Lama walks into a pizza restaurant and the waiter asks so what pizza would you like. The Dalai Lama responds can you make me one with everything?

Have a good evening all
Said ta-ra to one of the fellas I've been working with today. He's off now and won't be back until after I've left. Was rather but we'll keep in touch. And bless him, he's bought me one of those home-made sweets recipe books I was talking about earlier.
Off out to drink a little, or a lot, too much tonight. It's the middle of June and I'm looking at my winter clothes for something to wear! Should be wearing a summer frock and flip flops
Have a good evening all
