The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Christchurch
First topic message reminder :
Kia ora and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Christchurch, as it prepares to host its first test match in over 2 years. While reconstruction continues post-earthquake there's plenty of vacant lots for the pub to "occupy".
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Llanelli legend Nigel Davies, and local heroes Richie McCaw and Dan Carter.

You're welcome, I hadn't intended on watching but there was nothing else on. It's repeated tonight after the rugby match repeat at 11:15pm

GREAT first half from Ireland!
We've put some pride back in the jersey here. Just can't afford to keep getting penalised like we are.

I'm.pulling my hair out watching this, such a stupid performance from the lads, do they not realise we need the ball to score??? Na let's just keep kicking it away, we've a Leinster back line that cut Europe to shreds by running the ball but all the do is kick
AAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH
FRUSTRATION!!!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Christchurch
Those stupid penalties that's what kills you. Like Ireland in the soccer the other day, all avoidable scenarios just bad mistakes. Need to grab a few scores, penalties or tries. Need to step it up.
Hoog, you can't run the ball all the time. If we kick for territory rather than loose kicks, it might work. We need to keep it for a while and go through the phases. I'm wondering should w bring on Reddan, we're going to be run at like. Murray could be needed

Paul Wallace said it didn't he, too quick to kick away turnover ball.

ROG needs to have a big game. He hasn't had one in a while. Back him instead of tearing him down.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Christchurch
No issue with ROG T and not tearing him down, genuinely hope he does the business here. Issue is with DK, taking the more conservative of the two available options. Again.
At some point if Ireland want to progress he is going to have to be brave and bold.

New Zealand are rattled here. Ireland can win this, but they have to take it to them and not let them regain composure.

Rd watching a test match like this is not a good cure when you're hungover. I may have to throw up in 8 minutes time regardless of the result.

ooooh heartbreak for Ireland :'(
D Carter with a DG, wins it for them.
My Irish friends
Be so SO proud of your men. This is a MASSIVE improvement from last week. Like light years different, just SO much better. Think its one of the best performances from you guys I've ever seen.

So unlucky for Ireland there. Really think they should have been givent hat scrum and not been done for wheeling, they won the 2nd shove easily.

And that is why they are best in the world. never looked like winning the game second half, but came up with the DG when it mattered.

Just back in from a short run and gutted to see that score line - bags of pride put back in the green jersey today chuffed to bits for the Irish regs

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Christchurch
Sadly, and this may not be the time to say it, as Ireland have given everything out there and deserved better, but I can see them getting hammered next week.
For a while now Ireland have always had one massive performance in them in every competition/tour/series, but have failed to sustain that through. I see this as the same and that was the big one (albeit they fell short), and next week will see them struggle to replicate it.
Sorry.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Christchurch
Agreed Pete. Obviously hope you're wrong but that is the undeniable pattern of the Kidney era. Thats why it's so heart breaking. We should have won it, we didn't finish the job when we had to. Chances like that are hard to get and we had them exactly where we wanted them until Owens penalised us at that scrum. Goddammit! Sport is cruel

We weren't clinical enough. NZ have the cool to finish off their chances, and get the win no matter what it takes.
A loss is still a loss.

Heads up Irish regs. The team played so much better than last week.
I think you also have another chance next week. They have proved they can go along way.

This is a massive test for Kidney now. Can he get another performance like that out of those players next week? If he can then fantastic. If he can't then for em the IRFU have to act.
