What about Nalby when he won back to back masters? I guess he was close to 15 but missed it narrowly.

Almagro might be somewhere in there, with a winning streak during the South American claycourt season. Will have to check, and see if he was outside top ten.

EDIT: South American claycourt season of 2011. Won two consecutive tournaments and lost final in the third. But how many matches did he play?

He got beaten first round of Basel in between those back to back masters, so no long winning streak there.

Ok, Almagro is wrong. Only had a 13-match winning streak.

Which time span does this quiz embrace?

Really, this quiz is too difficult. Anyone else who won four consecutive tournaments like Del Potro did in 2008? I have no clue. Non-top tenners usually don't get such winning streaks, that's why there are not top ten.

Just looked it up - 6 at Queens, 7 at Wimby + the first 3 rounds of the next tournament - Indianapolis.
Although by the time of Indianapolis he was ranked 10th.

Courier 1991 IW/Miami double (12 matches ranked 26 and 18 respectively). Not quite 15 though.

I can find a 13-match streak. 1998 San Jose, Scottsdale, IW (lost in Q) - 13 matches and 1998 Washington, LA and Canada.

Mecir has 1986 Kitzbuehl and USO (lost in F to Lendl) - 12 matches - ranked 21 and 15 respectively.

He also has some other interesting streaks but again not close to 15.

Canas won four Challengers in a row in 2006 - Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Ascuncion, Sao Paulo ranked 100+.

2002 DC (v CRO - 2), Barcelona (6), Mallorca (5) - 13 ranked 64 through 37.

So close, yet so far.

Good finds LF,LYD and Chryd, so DP's feat was still an unique one then

Will look for some more.

Brian Baker recently acheived this, though this includes 6 Qualifiers.

Kuerten 1997 Curitiba (Challenger - 5 matches ranked 69), RG 7 matches ranked 66, Bologna (4 matches ranked 15- lost to Mantilla in Final). 16 matches won.

Safin 2000 - Barcelona 6 matches ranked 35, Mallorca 5 matches ranked 20, Rome 1 match ranked 14 (lost to Mantilla in R32) - 12 matches. Pretty good for a mercurial player.
