The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sydney
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Sydney, as it prepares to host the final test match of the Australia v Wales series.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Kiwi, Linebreaker, Biltong and Asbo above the bar.

Has Paddy Wallace's call up to NZ gone down well on the Ireland thread? I'm frightened to look.

I haven't looked either but I'm expecting a lot of widespread delight and we're not worthy style posts. Every team needs its talismans
What are the odds he goes straight into the 22?

Heh.
I suppose it depends on the fitness of Earls. But even when we went with BOD and Earls in the first test we had D'Arcy (a 'specialist 12' if you like) on the bench. He might want the same thing again. I'd feel very bad for Cave in that instance.

6 - 20 to NZ at the moment, tries scored just before and just after half time, not good for us.
Stoppage in play at the minute for a NZ guy to be stretchered off. Two NZ defenders clashed heads horribly.

17-5 to Ireland over England dreamer. England have come out firing after half-time and got on the scoreboard, Ireland a bit rattled and need to settle.

I think the worst is over Notch. It didn't help that we were down to 14 men with Henderson getting sin binned. Things have looked a little better since he came back on.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sydney
England are fortunately very indisciplined when things aren't going their way. But I would like it if we could get another score all the same.

I mean, they are crazy. They really are shooting themselves in the foot at the breakdown. They could get another yellow.

6 - 30 to NZ with 3 mins to go.
All I will say (as I know Thomond and Stag don't like the Welsh criticising the ref ) is that this 2nd half has been of Knox proportions. That is all.

Not sure actually, I'll just check... looks like France squeezed out Australia 19-17 earlier today so we'll face off against them- opponents who'll be very motivated. We got a rare away win against them in the U20 Six Nations
They'll want payback against us just like we did for England today.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sydney
hahah yeah!
We need to get some sort of independent analysis of the game and send it to the IRB. It's one of the most disgusting displays of refereeing I've seen in that 2nd half.
Wales would never have won anyway (we made all the same mistakes as the senior side did yesterday) but it doesn't hurt to have a level playing field.

So Ireland v France 5,6 and Australia v England 7,8?

Yeah it's been great how Argentina, Wales and Ireland have fronted up this year. Just disappointing we wilted in the second half against England in the group stages. Had we only had the Italy game as our 2nd game rather than our 3rd...
Really great to see the usual suspects rattled, even the Baby Blacks lost. But will probably still win it mind you.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sydney
Evening all,
So proud of all those in green this weekend, old and young!
But sooooooo disappointed with the result yesterday! I really thought we were going to do it!
Just out of interest, I see Dreamer mentioned a head injury in the Wales v NZ game. Did anyone notice the independant doctors being used, then or any other time?

Not sure about the independant doctors, MrsP. There seemed to be a whole team of them out there.
Heard from Gibbo? Was a little worried about him the last few days and after yesterday's game. I hope he's having a good rest today.
Speaking of rest - I better go now too. Enjoy the footy all!

Evening pub
Busy but productive day today
Glas, have a look at this site. We booked for my mum's birthday through them and got a much better deal than going to the hotel direct. You can also search specifically for Spa Hotels via the Hotels tab.

It is at the stage where I disregard anything any Welsh posters say about the referees as it is hard to take the comments seriously. Im sorry if that bothers you but its the level its got to.

Just what's the point in even bothering to turn up and play if you aren't going to be allowed to compete fairly?

Stag - that attitude right there is one of the problems that's facing this game. This seemingly it being taboo to criticise a referee. I'm not going to apologise for wanting better standards, I'm just sorry you can't see the comments for what they are.

I felt like writing one to FIFA back in 2006 but felt disheartened after I wrote "Dear Mr Blatter..."
Then came Qatar....
ffs... they can play amongst themselves in that god-awful hole of a place.

Dreamer when its the same team and the comments are after every defeat they get hard to take seriously.
I genuinely really truly consider a large portion of Welsh fans to be really bad losers.
Not alone do many suggest it is bad refereeing but it is sometimes suggested the referees are intentionally corrupt.
As I say The Boy Who Cried Wolf - keep saying the same thing and it loses its meaning. When its actually true nobody will believe you.

No wum Dreamer. Sadly just the way some idiots on this forum (note: No Pub regs included there I swear it) have conducted themselves in the past.
Im afraid I can only apologise if my comments offend but I can't apologise for the comments themselves.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sydney
Stag - you clearly haven't read the thread in question then and as such I find your generalisations quite distasteful and tiresome. No Welsh poster has blamed the ref for the loss. They've blamed the ref for there not being a level playing field. There's a huge difference right there. Again, just disappointing you can't see that and are just falling back on a stereotype you seem to want to believe in.
Just really disappointed by your comments Stag.
