The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sydney
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Sydney, as it prepares to host the final test match of the Australia v Wales series.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Kiwi, Linebreaker, Biltong and Asbo above the bar.

He didn't mean it Stag. The translation was: "Munster are lucky to have the privilege of paying me lots of money to do something I'd do for free. OK, they are the second/third team in Ireland nowadays, but hey, if you're going to live on past glories, they may as well be good ones..."

Good afternoon everyone
It's Friday!!! Another week older and more rugby to look forward to tomorrow. If the matches are half as good as last week, then I'll be happy....better results would be cool though. Hope everyone's all well and good.

Hi Cari.
I think we have had the same weather as the Isle of Wight. Has not stopped pouring all day.
And poor P1 had her Geography field trip today.
Absolutely drenched!

Three things:
How can you be sent off for pulling somebody's hair?
Andre Taylor must be one of the top 3 most exciting players in Super Rugby this year.
Lastly, for Asbo when he comes in. The stadium that the Glasgow 7s was in is where the Warriors will play right? Will it have that capacity or be smaller?

Evening Munsty.
Why shouldn't you be sent off for pulling someone's hair?
Unsportsman like conduct at the very least surely?
And wasn't there that who-ha between LI at the Tigers this season?

Yellow maybe especially given how it was was.
Can't believe SA won that. Probably the most average side to win the comp in its five years.

If that hair belongs to Wayne Rooney or the ref was wearing a wig. I like the Greek word for wig - it's perouka.
MrsP - hello. Yes it's raining, and will continue to do so because this weekend is normally Glastonbury weekend (although they're not having one this year). It always wees down on Glasto weekend. It does the revellers good. At least they'll have to have a bath now.

I must remember to ask the schools not to organise any trips this week then!
It really has been torrential today.
Munsty, I didn't realise you meant "red card" when you said sent off. Was there a citing in the other incident I mentioned? I suppose it would have been a red card offence if that was the case and it was up held but I can't remember.
Must go and check!

I don't remember any as bad as this Cari.
Mind you I don't remember too many field trips.
We had a geography one where we had to walk down a county road and plot what each field was used for but the sun was splitting the stones that day.

I don't remember many school trips either MrsP. Went to Pendine Camp when I was in junior school. That was like one of those activity trips for kids where you go walking alot, go through caves and learn about nature stuff. It wasn't so much the activities just a bit of a bullies paradise. I remember going to some mill in West Wales, and Scolton Manor was another regular trip.

Sorry, I should say a very solid pack which worked very well as a unit.
Shame the New Zealand pack were dominated so, their centres and Ahki on the wing looked exciting.

Evening All
I heard the rain at five this morning. It's still raining fifteen and a half hours later and doesn't look as if it is likely to stop anyway soon
Wales on at early O'Clock then tomorrow. Make a nice wee opener for the big one at brekkie time

From what I watched SA deserved that win. They bettered NZ up front - ferocious stuff, and an enjoyable game. Everyone in the pub watching (all neutrals) felt the same.

See, this was the only match of the tour that we had any hope of watching in real time! Don't want MrP to have to miss it either.
Trying to figure out if I can pick up P4's friends and drop them all off during the half time interval?
I might need a time travelling device!

indeed.
6 changes for us; two forced mind you. But 3 different 15s in the 3 tests. I don't think SL has a clue what his best team is.
Unless he's viewing it as an experimental tour.

If he has done that fair play to him. At least he will have an idea of how the players will perform for him. I can see the benefit in it.
Ireland on the other hand will still be guessing about several players come November.

Evening pub, for me please.
I just found out what the little boy whose christening cake I've been asked to make would like. Fireman Sam! I am yet to discover if that is with or without fire engine!?
I'm off to find some inspiration!

I'd say not in England Mrs P. Maybe in our staid system yes!
Swanny , if you can manage an engine as well as Sam I'm sure the wee lad will be delighted.
Three ? Don't know how the cake will turn out with three

I did wonder MrsP, apparently he is nearly 3.
The are purely medicinal Rava, for the shock you know The cake isn't required until 15th July so plenty of recovery, and pondering, time.
My first thought is a fire engine cake and a (non-edible) Sam figurine that he can keep.

Breaker, I was hoping to ask you about Black Caviar. There has been a huge amount of media coverage on her this week. Does she REALLY bring Australia to a halt when she runs? Will you be watching tomorrow? It would be great if she wins again - but she must really stretch out as she should have a much higher rating. Currently Frankel, he won on the first day at RA, is rated higher, but I suspect BC is a better horse.

It's a freakish horse Rose.
I'm not a horse-racing fan but you cannot escape all the talk. It's been going on for over a year now. I saw a bit a Frankel last year... amazing record too.
I have a mate who gets angry when people tweet BC's account... he says:
"I mean, they do realise they think they are talking to a bloody horse? "
It's got more 'followers' than me though... and more tweets.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sydney
It was the same with Arkle - we Irish thought he could walk on water, and indeed he did in the Cheltenham Gold Cup one year. It was St Patrick's Day and in the CGC they hdo two circuits of the course. Well, they were coming down the home straight first tiome and, with Arkle in the lead, the crowd gave a huge roar . Blow me if he didn't turn to look at the crowd, really in a "Hello I AM the GREAT, the one and only Arkle" sort of way. His jockey, Pat Taaffe could not get him straight for the next fence, so he ploughed through it. All the Irish at Cheltenham that day will swear that it was St Patrick who kept him on his feet.
But horses are special animals. They really do have character and the truly great ones are remembered for it.
Anyway, I shan't put any money on her tomorrow, but I hope she wins.

They can have big heads can't they? Black Caviar is like that too.
To be honest, I've never seen it win a close race. It always wins by quite a distance (from what I've seen) which is even more impressive considering this is the equivalent of the 100m dash for humans.
