I would not class VDV as a midfielder anyway. He is probably better described as a second striker. You would not play him in a midfield 4

Giroud is a top striker you'll see next season banging in the goals for Arsenal who create loads of chances. Hope that balances it out Twist.

Ganso would be in the side with Neymar, Hulk etc that was playing in the US recently but he dropped out for minor knee surgery.

I don't understand it, I quite like the music the players come out to, it would have been good if they did that. But nothing will touch the Champions League tune.

Van Der Vaart is ideal in a 4-2-3-1, but if you want to play a different system he doesn't fit. Same with Gotze (hence I didn't snap Hero's hand off earlier). Got to have some backup plans and versatile players. Which doesn't explain why I signed Ganso

Don't quite know why everyone believes Gotze is limited to a AM role only, he played most of this season and a fair chunk of last season on the right.

According to something I heard a while ago, most men are more emotional upon hearing the CL anthem that their own national anthem.

I'm more emotional when I hear the theme tune to Watership Down.

The CL anthem really pumps me, probably because our players mumble th national anthem it lacks passion.

Did you see the Italians singing it yesterday especially Buffon, my spine was tingling and you could tell they meant each word.

Star Spangled Banner gets me going more than the British National anthem given a choice.

And I probably would be if I'm honest, the CL anthem is truly epic. And I hate the Queen and therefore our national anthem.

I think Ganso's better than Hernanes personally, but they're different types of player.

I was being a little cheeky, i'd rank them level, Ganso with more influence on a game but Hernanes playing in Serie A means he's against tougher opponents in a tougher league (in theory). Hernanes is also more versatile which suits me.

So England finished top of the group unbeaten. Not too bad. Anything else from here is a bonus IMO. Shows that 4-4-2 can still work if used well IMO

I agree. We have achieved as much as was expected and I think we have a decent chance against Italy.

Rooney will benefit from the game as he looked knackered just before he came off. He had stopped chasing the ball. Gerrard has been our best player for me. I have been a little disappointed with Ashley Young in the last couple of games, been a bit of a peripheral figure out on the left

Is that what some people are saying? I haven't heard that.

The reports I have heard are generally saying that it is going to be a difficult game, and probably about 50/50.

I am expecting it to be fairly close with the bookies.

I reckon both sides will fail to leave their own half and they'll take it in turns to try efforts from the half way line to decide it.

They probably fear us as much as we fear them, I'm quietly optimistic but not expectant.

I'm stunned by some of the confidence that we will do anything other than lose to Italy...

Meanwhile did a bit of browsing to discover Ogbonna in the releases for £2.65 so there is decision made!

Milan are targetting him to replace Nesta, so pretty pleased to get a CB who will be starting next season at Milan for less than £3m

Have to admit I didn't know much about Ogbonna so have done a Google search on him.
