THE OMPC - INAUGRAL CUP COMPETITION FOR THE NEWLY FORMED OMPL

Welcome to the first cup competition, part of the OMPL.

This cup will take place over a set number of days (which will be dependant on number of entrants). At the end we will crown the OMPC winner.

The winner of the cup will gain automatic entry into the Championship for the next 'OMPL' if they are already part of the 'OMPL' then they will get 5 'BONUS POINTS' at the start of the season! Im sure you will agree its a pretty good prize.

The format of the cup will be a straight knockout consisting of ‘Rounds’. These will take place over consecutive days until we have our winner.

Each day I will post the results of the previous round and the next set of fights to be predicted.

Below you will find the rules & the scoring system – Please note that when it comes to the scoring you cannot have one without the other. That is to say if you fail to predict the winner you will not score points for method etc. YOU HAVE TO PREDICT THE WINNER TO GET THE OTHER POINTS.

Manos De Piedra 25 Points vs 22 Points ShahenshahG

So we finally have our first ever OMPC Winner and for Manos De Piedra it completes a historic double. The man who was crowned the OMPL Premiership Champion was unstoppable in his quest to prove his Predictive abilities. It wasn't a complete walkover however and ShahenshahG can feel proud in his run to the final. Having won promotion the to the Premiership in the coming Season 2 of the OMPL he will enter with some confidence that he can do well and possibly gain revenge over Manos.

As for our double champion...a 5 point bonus will be given to him at the start of next season, making the task for anyone to overhaul him all the more difficult. The question is will he be back to defend his crown or with his supreme prediction skills will he simply enter a line on next weekends lottery and disappear into the distance with a lasting legacy?!

Finney - Yeh I did hold out as long as possible with that one. Searched absolutly everywhere for the result aswell.

What with wanting this Cup competition to be a quick format needed to get results up and next round drawn.

As you can see by amount of extensions I have to give people/people failing to predict altogether...you can imagine its difficult getting everyone's predictions in at the best of times.

So unfortunatly had to make a call and choose the other fight to give those who made it through as much time as possible to send in their predictions for this round.

Owen sorry if you thought I was being critical, I only posted the Gonzalez result just so everyone could see it, I would dread attempting to run a competition like this and wouldn't have a clue where to start and I am personally extremely grateful to you and previously union for running them. Finney - No problems pal...didnt mean it to come across as me thinking you had been critical.

Everybody - Ok it seems the results from South Africa still are not up...attempted to find them but still no luck..

We have a few match ups which are draws as it stands and unlike last time I cant put all of those who draw through...

So I can either use a 'randomizer' tool online to decide the winner of the drawn games or I can use a previous fight from last week...

What do people think?

Obviously need to get on with the next round as Im hoping to have the final by Saturday.

YOU WILL NOTICE SOME MATCH UP'S HAVE 3 PEOPLE...I THOUGHT IT ONLY FAIR TO PUT THOSE WHO DREW IN ROUND 2 THROUGH...

HOWEVER BE AWARE THAT IF ANY RESULT ENDS IN A DRAW FROM HERE ON OUT IT WILL BE DECIDED USING A RANDOM NAME GENERATOR TOOL. HEARTBREAKING I KNOW BUT THINK OF IT AS THE OMPC SHOOTOUT!!

I know Giant....part of the reason I love this game is because you come across people you would never normal here of.

Interesting to note that he actually went 96-2 as an amateur.

Although as someone on a different forum has pointed out:

Closer inspection of his (admittedly eye-popping) record does reveal he's fought the estimable Erneste Carnesse Gonzalez three times (because knocking him out in two rounds, then one round six months later obviously necessitated him beating the lad up again five months after that), the terrifying Jose Augusto Dos Santos three times (making him stay on his stool after one round, then four months later flattening him in two, then ten months (must've been on holiday) later doing him in six), the terrifying Josemar Dos Santos twice (KO2 in August 2010, lasted another round six months later), the mighty Wanderlei De Oliveira (done twice inside a round, five months apart), & in his last answered the clamour for a rematch which must've been deafening after he took out Fernando De Oliveira inside a round, by doing the do again.

Clearly they like to fight one another in Brazil...must have some kind of boxing league where everyone meets each other 4 times

Will give him his props though, his 30 fights have come in a staggering 30 months!!

Imperial - Dont worry mate it's the same for everyone I think. Certainly for me. The cup is a case of a filling some time before a 2nd league season....quick and easy to do and bit more relaxed!...

Though I will predict now that whoever wins it will be crowing about their knowledge and will insist this is not a micky mouse competition

Sorry to be a pain, but I think you got Galveston and my scores mixed up in round 2... according to your posted results I got all fights right and 1 perfect... Galveston got 2 right 1 perfect and 1 wrong.... I feel like Im being jobbed :P

Also feel I deserve a bye into round 4 as only noticed after the deadline for round 3 :P

It's a difficult one as I know some people may not check at home etc so I try to do my best to provide as much time as possible...not always possible though, especially since I want the format to be a quick one.

Apologies for the missed chance...dont wory we will be getting Season 2 of the OMPL underway very soon!!

Soldier - Unfortunatly due to some people not predicting and the fact that I need to get this Competition wrapped up I did the draw again to exclude those who had not predicted. Dont worry it also cost me a place in the QF's.

Alma - I will be putting the semi final fights for prediction up on the board tommorow so if you can post your predictions for them in case you make it that stage. I will also inbox you the fights for the final and you can send me back your predictions then....

Just to let you know I will be starting up the new season of the OMPL on the Weekend of the 14th...So did you want me to take you out of the competition for this season?
