Best Player of all time?

This is a tough one. We all have our favourites, but who do you think is the best player of all time and why?

I've only ever heard of the top three, so I'll go for Michael Jordan simply because the other two still play. What about Shaq?

For me its Jordan all the way, top 5 would be Jordan, Magic, Bird, Wilt and Kobe

Is it possible to look past Johnson with everything he achieved? A true sporting great - not just a basketball great.

I've had to go with Michael Jordan simply because he was still playing when I was watching from a young age. Had I seen him play, I can imagine Wilt set the world alight, he holds the highest points record in a game, most rebounds, most blocks so from a stats point of view you could say Wilt was the better player. However, he was freakishly big in an era where the average height was nowhere near what it is today.

I've gone for Kareem. Jordan poured points in but Kareem still has more in his career. He as also better on defense.

Hakeem also deserves a shout, as does the underrated Tim Duncan who is the best power forward of all time for me.

this is an easy poll for me , its jordan then daylight

i remember a stat showing alltime average points per game during the playoffs the guys ranked 2-10 were all within a point or two of each other , jordan was 5 points clear. (this stat might have changed now as it was from jordan was still playing)

I would have to go with Jordan, his stats are phenomenal. Though Shaq deserved a mention though, Slam magazine ranked him as the 4th best player in NBA history. I can't really comment on some of the older guys, I have only read about them.

Without a doubt it has to be Jordan for me. Watched the Bulls during the 90's when basketball was on channel 4 almost every night. Well it felt like it was. think Scotty Pippin should have been on the list he was an awesome player as well.

Michael Jordan for me. The guy was amazing and inspirational.

Jordan for me but only because i'm to young to remember how great Magic Johnson was.

Bill Russell for me, followed by Jordan then Wilt.

not a massive basketball fan but have heard of 7 out of the 10, although ive seen more of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in airplane than on a court!!

Don't think you can argue with Jordan... 6 world titles, 6 time finals mvp - incredible

Ditto Kenny... memories of Larry Bird all those years ago. He was as cool as ice. Modern players have raised the bar in a phenomenal way - as in most sports - but Michael Jordan gets top prize followed by Magic Johnson.
