Which do you prefer?
Spinner or Fast Bowler?
I was just wondering what the cricket massive's favourite style of bowling is.
Are you a fan of pace, or do you prefer the trickery of the spin bowler?
Which one gets your vote and why?

Re: Spinner or Fast Bowler?
when its turning i prefer spin, just so much more going on. although i could say the same that when its swinging at places like leeds. but watching players like warne, MM and more recently swann (mainly to leftys) on turning wickets is great viewing
problem at the moment is there are no true greats out there for fast bowling, the last being ambrose, walsh and mcgrath.

Re: Spinner or Fast Bowler?
i actually cant decide so havent voted
When i play i bowl spin, however prefer pace bowling when batting,
agree though i love watching spin bowling on a turning wicket but at the same time quality seam/swing like Flintoff to Gilchrist in the 05 ashes is a beauty to see

Re: Spinner or Fast Bowler?
just saw this poll.
I guess it depends on who exacty was bowling. Watching Lee tearing in at the MCG at the boxing day test in 2002 was an amazing sight, but I never found the same excitement watching McGrath bowl for instance (which is not to say he wasn't a mighty fine bowler).
However for me nothing beats watching an attacking spinner trying to work the batsman over, the way Warne used to. I was lucky enough to be at the MCG (OK so I have family in Aus who are members ) this christmas, and Swann's working over of Clarke (a fine player of spin) was a joy to behold. Having tied him down from over the wicket, he switched to around, put in a second slip (but kept short leg so that Clarke couldn't play for the straight one). A few balls later, drifter, caught at second slip. Magnificent!
Of course watching Giles bowl wasn't quite as excting...

Re: Spinner or Fast Bowler?
For me, there ain't anything better than watching a fast bowler steaming in. Whether it was Glenn McGrath's relentlessness, Curtly Ambrose's awkward looking but incredibly lethal short ball, Brett Lee's wonderful action and searing pace or even Dale Steyn's deadly accurate yorkers they are all wonderful to watch. Is there a better sight in cricket than stumps cartwheeling out of the ground?
Plus, I can never read a spinner for sh1t.

I agree with liverbnz.
There's nothing better than watching a fast bowler tearing into the creasing and blowing away the top order or tail! I'm all for spin bowling and think it's a fantastic skill to hone and master, but for me, fast bowling adds an element of excitement to the batsman vs. bowler clash.

Fast bowlers at their best are more exciting to watch than spinners, so fast for me.
