Ah I remember the days of the Furious League when Viva used to knock one out over Young even more than you do over Grant Holt.

Don't think that is possible Laugh

All I know is that Young was absolutely awful all tournament. Seriously can't remember him doing anything good. Glen Johnson for me was very good

And also #GrantHoltwouldhavescoredhispenalty

Lol Young, Downing will be coming home with a better reputation then Young.

All I know is England have never won the Euros without Rio Ferdinand in their squad, what a big mistake by Roy Hodgson sack him now bring in a foreign manager.

Scholes should have gone instead of the idiotic Henderson.

Young was awful and I predicted him to miss a penalty at about 65 mins.

Cole should have done better from the spot but was exceptional through the tournament.

That's a bit hasty.. Hodgson did a good job an the decision to not pick a play that can't play 3 games in quick succession next to John Terry who played amazing and saved England on numerous occasions.

Morning

Lescott outperformed Terry and was our best defender, Terry was ok nothing special his court date coming soon I hope he gets 10 years. Rio played 3 games in 8 days 3 times last season so let's that myth.

Lescott, Gerrard, Welbeck, are the only players who can go home with their heads held high. Hart needs to stop making silly faces and save the shots.

Bit harsh on Terry, he may be slow and old and a bit crap at playing offside but he had a decent tournament. Perhaps letting personal dislike get in the way there Viva.

Hart deserves some credit, he played well in all of the games, and he can't be blamed for not saving penalties. Aside from the one that went wide, they were all good kicks.

Young was appalling, Rooney too, and as soon as Carroll came on we decided that we'd boot it up to him and that was that. I wish I wasn't an England fan because I could have changed the channel or played Fifa or something rather than watch that...

How frustrating watching that England side?

You see Young in the Premier League, and for England in the last 12 months, and he has produced the good. The this tournament, he was completely anonymous.

And although I thought the opposite originally, in hindsight I think Hodgson made the correct choice not taking Ferdinand in the end. Terry was one of England's better players and Ferdinand would never have put his body on the line in the same way. Terry / Lescott > Ferdinand / Lescott.

Anyway, busy day today so going to make this a fleeting visit and avoid the temptation to pop back on every five minutes.

Sodhat if Terry played good I'd have said it he was average below Lescott, Gerrard was our best player and led us like a captain. Afro he may not fly around blocking the ball but he has something else to his game.

Bull because he was more concerned about playing crappy mind games then saving penaltys, Buffon did the right thing. Hart was ok he spilt a few balls in the tournament nothing special didn't look like a world class keeper.

Like I said Lescott, Gerrard and Welbeck can go home knowing they put in a performance the rest were poor or average.

I was saying that Ferdinand wouldn't have brought anything Lescott didn't, so Terry was a better partner for Lescott than Ferdinand would have been. He brought stuff that Lescott didn't. Ferdinand wouldn't have.

I thought Hart was good as well. He made more saves than any other keeper in the tournament so far, and if you look at the goals we conceded, you can't really blame him for any of them. He took charge of his area and his punching clear has been top draw. Always first to the ball, and the ball is always away from danger. And I also think he made as good an effort to save those penalties as any other keeper, so the toungue out business didn't really make any difference. It might even have made Montolivo miss, so might actually have benefited us.

For a keeper who is supposed to be one of the best in the world he didn't look like it was not that good on crosses. Sticking tounges and stupid faces what was the point, good effort is not good enough.

England need to bring in youth or the younger lads for 2014 qualifiers merge them with some of the older guys.

That Andrea Pirlo is a cheeky bar steward is he not? (Note: I typed in "bar steward" instead of the filtered word because I'm a good little boy)

Glad Rooney scored his penalty, at least his spirit won't be broken for next season. Hopefully Hart has a woeful season now and costs City the title in March. And I laughed so hard at Cashley it was painful. Where was he all night? All I saw was Young defending at LB.

The point was to try and put them off. Didn't work but better than not trying.

And from crosses I thought Hart was commanding. Just because he punched the ball a lot doesn't make him bad, in fact if you look at the punches they all cleared the penalty area and the danger

Walcott is still not going to make it to my side, I just don't think he is good enough.

Walker must get a look in now, Johnson needs a move and he'll be in on the left. Wilshere needs to come back, and hopefully Jones cracks on at United and takes a CB spot.

CB's: Cahill, Jones, Smalling (need another here)
LB's: Baines, Gibbs
RM's: Walcott, Sterling
CM's: Wilshere, Rodwell, Henderson (need another here)
LM's: The Ox, Adam Johnson
ST's: Welbeck, Carroll, Rooney, Wickham

Surprised you'd include a Tractor Boy on there Olly...

If I've included a Tractor Boy in there Sodhat, he must have potential Laugh

Also on a side note we have the likes of Jonny Howson and Ryan Bennett at Norwich who could become solid Premier League players, and decent England squad players

If I'm honest, I think we really lack the quality of striker coming through to partner Rooney.

Welbeck did alright. Carrol had his moments. But I don't think either are going to make the opposition fear them unless they improve further.

Perhaps Sturridge?

Ultimately, our side for the future is going to be built around Wilshere

Bertrand and Hutchinson will never be I'm sorry Gregers Wink

McEachran needs to improve, and get more game time but has the potential

Tom Cleverley - Amazing but never fit for us.

Who won't be there in 2014? I'll say Gerrard, Lamps, Terry, Ferdinand, Parker and Walnut.

If, and its a big if, Wilshere is ever properly fit again.

----------------Hart---------------
-Walker--Cahill(c)--Jones--Bertrand-
--------------Rodwell--------------
-------McEachran-Wilshere---------
--Ox----------Rooney---Henderson-
--------------Sturridge------------

Or replace Henderson with Adam Johnson, McEachran with Cleverley and Sturridge with Wellbeck. That in my eyes is a properly good side.

And Olly, can you please refer to him by his proper name... "The Champions League Winning" Ryan Bertrand.

There is no way that Cleverley is ahead of Wilshere in the pecking order.

Had he been fit, Wilshere would have been straight in the starting XI. Had Cleverley been fit, there is no guarantee he would have made the squad

Rodwell hasn't progressed enough to be considered at the moment.

Next season is a massive on for him.

I wouldn't have Cleverley anywhere near the England team. Whilst he is great at what he does, he is the exact type of player that has failed for England over the last 20 years. High energy, box to box.

It would be nice to start to build a team who could pass and retain possession as that is what is needed at international level. We should be steering clear of the Cleverley type players.
