The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Béal Feirste
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Belfast - the rope-making and ship building capital of the world.
Now the Mouth of the Shoal awaits the safe arrival of one of it's long lost daughter's - Cariadwr - in her ongoing quest to be as close as possible to one of her favourite players... Tomás Ó Buaigh of Emyvale.... on her Birthday
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Nial O'Connor, Cari & Tommy Bowe, "Pickles" the wonder dog of '66, Wikus van de Merwe and Black Caviar above the bar.

Yeah, exactly. I'd get my bread just when the supermarket is closing. It's like, 17p then.

Munsty have you tried disabling your firewall?
When that happened to me it's what I was told to do.
Or was it check the settings on my antivirus?
It could be one of those two because as you can access it on your phone it's unlikely to be your ISP that's at fault. That's if you're connecting on your phone through your router ?

That works with the meat and fish too Notch, it even tastes better when it's that much cheaper.

If the supermarkets decided to code the sell by date into the barcode they could sell more and waste less and you’d be able to get more than just your bread for 17p.

Best German accent of the lot has to be Didi Hamann on RTE during the Euro - combo of German and scouser is amazing. Any remember Jan Molby when he played for Liverpool - you'd swear he was botn a hundred yards from Anfield

You will never beat Admir Softic's accent. A fella who played with Cork City from Bosnia. He had a mixture of a thick Cork accent and Ivan Drago like English. Unbelivable stuff.

just saw a picture there posted on facebook. It says “Ireland’s Euro 2012 highlight” and it’s a picture of a stunning blonde in an Irish jersey, with green face paint on etc. I had a look at the comments, 38 of them, virtually every one of them from a fella saying “she’s too good looking to be Irish”

I wonder if the recession will make people reconsider the amount of waste in our society. Probably not.
It does seem like we waste a lot. I personally waste a lot and I don't even have much to waste. Just built into the way we live.

I like the Corkney accent myself. It's different to the rest of Ireland.
Mick, there are huge market Gardens in England who run their entire operation from generating electricity and heat from the methane produced by rotting supermarket waste food. It's criminal. The public has no concept of starvation or waste.

We try to keep our waste down as much as possible and despite our best efforts fill a bin every fortnight. Granted it's filled with unnecessary packaging and junk mail.

Did you watch that show Jimmy and the Giant Supermarket Glas? I'd say it would be right up your street. A fella who was trying to make free range meat affordable, he used spent hens to make supermarket chicken kievs, and put offal in sausages.
Packaging is a very obvious waste that really annoys me. A lad in work got an SD card delivered to him, it's about the size of your thumb nail, came in a box literally the size of a shoe box, filled with paper, plastic etc.

If the packaging is recyclable, it's not so bad; but often it's not.

Jimmy's giant supermarket is a great show Mick. His heart is definately in the right place, it's just a shame the public is so squeamish about eating offal. I freaking love offal.
Packaging is a curse. I still have some cardboard boxes from Christmas time and by the time I get rid of them it'll be Christmas again and we'll fill up the shed with new ones.

Fingal has a great system for dealing with waste nowadays, brown bin for biodegradible stuff free for collection, green bin for recyclibles free for collection and black bin for rubbish at last check was 8.50 for collection.
But your only paying for what you throw away, my mam now only puts a black bin out about every three weeks

My local authority is pretty good with the recycling -
Paper (incl cardboard and tetrapak), glass bottles and containers, plastic bottles and containers, metal tins and cans, garden waste AND waste food.
With all that, I think we put out our wheelie bin once every 2 months, maximum

It's the same in South Dublin Hoog. But one massive pain in the hoop is that we have a bottle bank around the corner with a bring station for all white electronics and it's only open during business hours, ergo i have bottles under the sink from the first day i moved in!!!

Waste food is the issue for me. I have no problem with potato peelings etc, but what gets me is that people will discard perfectly good food on a printed date - not the taste or smell. Even then a lot of it is rescuable with a good dousing in vinegar before being well cooked. Don't start me on people not using leftovers...

Mine is similar.
Which is all well and good, and I'm pretty good at sorting my bottles, cans, paper, plastic, etc into the right places. Which isn't all that relevant because my flatmate can't be a***ed and puts everything in the trash. And roughly once a month she asks me which colour bin/bag is for which item

Special thanks Thomond, Rava and Notch - now there's lads who know what to get a girl on her birthday
Smacked bum for Mickado though - how dare he slag off the pub's patron saint!!

Have you any idea how long they have been going on for? New book just published

Anyone want to write

Well that's another one over for a year. I never act my age (whatever that's supposed to be) and I certainly don't look it (ditto)...but I don't care about all that because I'm just glad I've made it this far. It could easily have been different. I've had a good day, and I hope I can do it all again next year. Now I'm off to bed. Nite!
Thanks again All.

Excellent.
I think that is a job for SIN E, Kia. The only man to lead Old Ireland back from the wilderness.

Joe Cocker, the only man to cover a Beatles song and improve it. Class.
As a ten year old I had the red album on tape. I loved it. My brother played me the Cocker version and I hated it. He asked me why. I said because its different and in one bit he just screams like a mad man. He explained to me why I was wrong using words like passion, soul and character. If he was just going to copy the Beatles what was the point? I dismissed him. But a few years later I found his tape. By then I'd, erm, developed and I suddenly knew what he'd been on about.
I love it.

Another good player who got frustrated with the lack of gametime he's getting in the province and has looked to make a name for himself overseas. Another player I'm sorry to see leave. Like David McIlwaine, Ian Whitten, Tommy Seymour, Mark McCrea- the Ulster Academy has produced loads of talented backs and we just can't play them all. I rate three of those four higher than Gaston to be fair, but Gaston has a lot of talent too just needs to get gametime.
But with Peter Nelson coming through at fullback from the U20s, the writing was on the wall for him. Nelson is a major prospect.

It's been known (and I have seen it with my own eyes) for the recycling pick up lorries to meet up in secluded/quiet areas with the general (landfill) waste lorries where they bung all the recycled waste in with it.
As per usual, we do our bit and it makes no odds
Doesn't stop me from doing my bit though.
On a stroll through some threads, insomnia allows me the opportunity, so sorry for the late response, belated happy birthday Cari.
