The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Béal Feirste
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Belfast - the rope-making and ship building capital of the world.
Now the Mouth of the Shoal awaits the safe arrival of one of it's long lost daughter's - Cariadwr - in her ongoing quest to be as close as possible to one of her favourite players... Tomás Ó Buaigh of Emyvale.... on her Birthday
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Nial O'Connor, Cari & Tommy Bowe, "Pickles" the wonder dog of '66, Wikus van de Merwe and Black Caviar above the bar.

I love my ipad, it is convenient and like the battery life on it.Hapless Freegan wrote:I have a question: I have a bit of money to spare; I've bought a new laptop recently and I also have a netbook; is there any point in me buying an iPad?
Cool dowlaods as well, but I use my ipad only for entertainment purposes, you into music aren't you?
have a look at the app store, Garage Band. It is a music studio, you can add anyone of about 40 instruments and make your own music.

That sounds cool, Biltong. I really don't need an iPad though - I'm just wondering if there's a nice bit of kit I can justify spending money on.
Oh, and Breaker: it's one-day cricket. I don't really care, even if it is the Aussies!

Enjoy your break Kiwi... what's the weather like?
Based on the summer to date LB, it'll be wet.
I'm putting together a list of London touristy things I haven't done, and aiming to get through a few.
So far on the list
- the Leonardo Da Vinci anatomy exhibition in the Queen's Gallery (plus doing the Buck Palace tour while I'm there)
- checking out the restored Cutty Sark at Greenwich (I was planning a trip out to see it in 2006 when the fire happened), will try to do a crossing on Boris's new fancy cable car while I'm there
-Thursday I'm actually "working" (the Comapany is having it's "Summer Event" party at the Tower of London
- a trip out to the RAF branch of the Imperial War Museum at Duxford

Lucky, I would suggest not buying an iPad. But if you were going to go down that route get a Nexus. It's half the price. £128 or €160 for the 8gb only 250 for 16. It's out in July sometime.

Sounds great Kiwi.
Does it go across the Thames or along the shoreline?
Is that the War Memorial out towards Cambridge or I am thinking of the American one?

It's across the Thames, from North Greenwich to the Royal Docks
And the "American one" is part of the IWM Duxford, and is near Cambridge

Micko, there's feic all to do in Dublin so you have to come to Cork...... Can't be having much fun up there!
Apple's products are decent but like Beats you're paying for the brand as much as anything.
BBT is decent, not the best out there but certainly watchable. How I met your Mother went downhill a few years ago, used to be brilliant haven't watches it too much now.

I'd disagree that you're just paying for the brand. Beats are just headphones, they sound ok but that IS just a brand, people buy apple because things work in a certain way. Anyway, don't apple have a plant in Cork, i thought you'd all love it down there

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Béal Feirste
Kiwi,
I went there a while ago. Very powerful imagery inside the dome...
Years ago my brother and me used to muck around with our neighbours kids... we played those board games "Sorry" and made lots of airfix models.
We were just having a larf saying "Cutty Shark"... when their old man (ex-Merchant Navy WW2) came in and bellowed at us:
"The next person to incorrectly pronounce "Cutty Sark".... will be sent home!!! (it was late 70s - we were about 10 or so)
He was a top man though and he once said to me:
"You know I'm one of the few people to have 'swum the Channel' one and a half times?" (I can still see him smirking rolling his own ciggies and chuckling to himself)
Turns out their vessel copped it 3 times and each time he was lucky to avoid the explosion and managed to dive in the water before getting rescued. Dear old Mick.

Apple products often look better than they are. They have a plant in the Northside Mick. Sure that place is barely Cork.

Also since Italy beat Germany in 90 minutes and it took 120 minutes for them to beat England. England are now in fact better than Germany apparently.

Think if Balotelli had been in that kind of form against England he would have helped himself to a couple then as well. Just seemed like Italy couldn't finish their supper in that game.

Indeed, the logic of some English football fans and their inability to acdpet defeat is astounding. It is beyond me.

I agree Thomond.
On another note anyone else notice how Ireland had to contend with BOTH finalists in our pool.
Skews the system a little bit and I think its a reflection that we over reacted and would have comfortably qualified from the other groups.

Pete, I took the kids there on Father's Day - you'll need to allow yourself a whole day tho, there are now 7 exhibition hangers. Train to Royston and taxi is probably easiest routeKiwireddevil wrote:Linebreaker wrote:Sounds great Kiwi.

Eng were beaten fair and square. We were poor after the first 20 mins. Any team that cannot string 3 or more passes together deserves to be out. loved Balotelli's second goal. Non of this rounding the keeper or placement crap. BOOM! Have that lol.

You're joking right? We would not have gotten out of any other group, besides Group A (that's a myabe) we played turgid negative football and we didn't deserve anything. The one game we tried to play it around a bit we could have got something out of (Italy game). Keith Andrews made Pirlo look average!

They call it Giraffe Bread now. Apparently a little 6 year old wrote to the Sainsbury's chairman and said that it didn't look like a tiger, it looked more like a giraffe. He replied saying that she was right and had it rebranded. Lovely stuff eh?
It's a great thing to make a giant salami, cheese and pickle sandwhich with mmmmmmmmmm

I'm giving up at this stage, apparently, you can only control a game by scoring goals. So Barcelona weren't dominant or controlling the game agaisnt Chelsea in the CL and England were not killed agaisnt Italy.
