The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Béal Feirste
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Belfast - the rope-making and ship building capital of the world.
Now the Mouth of the Shoal awaits the safe arrival of one of it's long lost daughter's - Cariadwr - in her ongoing quest to be as close as possible to one of her favourite players... Tomás Ó Buaigh of Emyvale.... on her Birthday
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Nial O'Connor, Cari & Tommy Bowe, "Pickles" the wonder dog of '66, Wikus van de Merwe and Black Caviar above the bar.

I wonder how good we would be at hurling if other countries decided to try their hand at it
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Béal Feirste
America would be decent at it, a great deal of my cousins over there play Lacrosse (one got a scholarship recently actually) and from what I have seen it is all in the wrists like hurling.
The cricket skills don't really translate, not a lot of stick work or anything like it. The "reverse" in cricket is the only thing that has a similar striking motion I would say. Maybe some baseball skills.

I actually don't finish till midnight tonight. Fun times lie ahead. On the upside though my new snazy Smith & Jones boxers arrived in the post. Mother less than impressed, but I like them.

Unfortunately I think that emotion that went with the semi-final and final inhibited the teams performances. I was very emotional myself on those days. I don't think we did ourselves justice in either game, maybe all that emotion was part of it.

You might be right Notch. Still, the only way to get over that is to go through it I suppose.
Great to hear about the investment in the academy. I am sure that BM is absolutely the best guy to bring our underage guys through.
Mind you, I'm sure the current academy coaches might not enjoy reading that bit.

Well, Logan does say how disappointing our performance at age group level in the interpros has been over the past number of years. Thats something of an embarrassment for the current coaches. I haven't heard of anyone being let go, just more people being brought in to lift standards.

Did I read that he wanted a higher caliber of coacges for the academy too. That can't be comfortable reading but I don't think yer man Logan would shy away from calling a spade a shovel!

Yeah. Well if you read where he wants to get to, it's basically the level Leinster are at now. And they'd never be where they are without a top class Academy. That's the backbone of their strength.
But it will be a massive challenge for us to catch up given they have a better AIL representation and probably a marginally better Schools System. Hence the importance of getting everything right...

Watching the European Athletics Champs here. That track in Helsinki is the stupidest shape ever!
Almost impossible to run those bends quickly and if you have an inside lane you have almost no chance!

Good evening pubbery lurkers
Hope all's well with everyone.
Another weekend is here. No rugby, but the Dubs are playing this weekend so that'll keep me occupied. No news with me really. Work has been bonkers just because there's a lot of people on hols now. That's good though because the summer's whizzing by and soon it'll be the new season...
RISCA - thanks for the birthday wishes. Hope you're enjoying Inverness
PENFRO - Have a great time in Italy...well it goes without saying cause I'm sure you will

You won't be saying that when you get to Ravenhill and it sounds more like a Westlife gig than a rugby match thanks to Ulster's ridiculously good looking backs...

Oooh....tidy! A team for me to support in the English league then. I don't have one normally. What do we call them? London Irish are already known as the Exiles, so we can't nick that. What about Taffy Apples?

They too are known as the Exiles Cari, I suspect our games against them will be billed as 'Battle of the Exiles!'

Stag "Glas reminds me of Tyrion Lannister"

Tirion is Welsh for magnanimous, perhaps that's what confused you
Tyrion is shrewd, educated, and calculating. He is capable of cruelty, but also has great sympathy for fellow outcasts and the mistreated.

Charlotte Church, Graham Norton, Danny Devito and Rhod Gilbert - I can't stand chat shows, but this lot are down to earth, witty and have great anecdotes. I want to be with them in my local or have them all over for supper. Am I getting old?

A lass I was attempting to chat up tonight got a text during our conversations. It was met with the response 'oh my god!'. Naturally being a gentleman I enquired as to what was the matter. She responeded in heartfelt and deeply upset tones 'Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting divorced!'
I weep for humanity.

Just cannot like her, after she won her Academy award for the movie "Monster" she came to SA (probably to come feed her ego) and did a few interviews with that fake american accent of hers and struggled to speak Afrikaans.Gibson wrote:Thomond wrote:Biltong , apparently Charlize Theron has shaved here head. : for you to drown your sorrows.

Morning
Biltong - I don't think the boys are really fussed on whatever accent she's got.
Speaking of accents, I had a little chuckle to myself the other day. I was watching that interview that Tommy did last week for Ulster, and I noticed his Welshiness was creeping through now and again (that's what four years in Swansea does to you). Of course that will quickly disappear now he's home...until he says something like "Who's coat's this jacket?"
