the regions starting 15
First topic message reminder :
As a Blues supporter hears my opinion of what Their starting 15. I have indcated alternatives for when welsh internationals are away
1. Benoit Bourrust
2. Andy Kyriacou
3. Campese Mafu
4. Bradley Davies - James Down
5. Lou Reed (possible) - Macauley Cook/ Cory Hill
6. Michael Paterson
7. Sam Warburton - Josh Navidi
8. Andrieus Pretorious (if called up as he becomes eligible at beginning of 2013) - Xavier Rush / Luke Hamilton
9. Lloyd Williams - Lewis Jones
10. Jason Tovey (possible) - Ceri Sweeney
11. Alex Cuthbert - Tom James
12. Jamie Roberts - Daf Hewitt/ Cory Allen
13. Gavin Evans
14. Harry Robinson - Chris Czekai / Richard Mustoe
15. Leigh Halfpenny - Dan Fish / Chris Czekai
looking at the pack theirs a distinctive foreing core however the backline is made up only of welsh young talent that seems a positive step in the right direction

Risca,
Whats happened to Coombes, is he injured as he seemed quite handy when hes played.
As for captaincy how do you think Hughes or maybe Evans would rise to the additional responsibility.
As I have said before I think Smith is the player that makes us tick and he has been captain before but he seems very injury prone so maybe Evans or Hughes could take it over.
Though I hope Hughes gets some International recognition this set of AIs

I'm a Coombs fan myself. He's back fit again now though I think.
Just don't really have a vocal player as such do we. I can see positives in a few of our players, but not somebody who will talk politely to a ref about decisions against us. I would probably go for Ash myself.
Agree totally about Adam for the AI's though.

Has Evans really got the pace to be an open side? I have my doubts. Darren W played well but I'd like to see Nash given a chance, often MOTM for keys and could be the leader we are in desperate need of.
Coombs is a player who I rate. He's physical n has a good work rate. As for Hughes.. I can't BELIVE he wasn't in the welsh squad. Our backs may struggle this year as the front 5 can't provide a platform.
I'd also have Steffan at 10 as he has far more flair to his game but I think DE will go with Roblin to start.

Guns,
I think Evans has and would be a great success there as for rest I agree with you. Think we will struugle (again) up front.

I notice that Scarlets' new signing, Tomas Vallejos, has been included in Argentina's 4Ns squad, so will likely miss out on a fair chunk of the start of the season

I haven't seen the squad(s) but suspected he might be included, meaning he'll be missing until the start of October - if he's called up for the AIs he could then be missing from the end of October until the start of December but I'm not sure if he'll be in both squads. We still have Timani/Shingler to cover

We've got Earle to cover too
Not all that surprising about Vallejos either, am sure our backrow players will step up to cover as they have been for the last couple of seasons. Not ideal but certainly workable. We'll also have him for the 6N's period which is a massive plus.

I was thinking that Earle and the new lock signing (Carizza???) would be our starting locks, with Timani/Shingler to cover - a much better position than we were in last year!!!
