Viva hits the nail on head too.

It's not about how good the players really are, it's their ratings on here which are heavily influenced by how much they are watched. If someone has a sky high rating, and they are not watched that much, they will continue to be high even if they have a stinker. Someone in the Premier League who we see week in, week out, the opposite could happen.

Balasz Dzudszak is a prime example. Brilliant, brilliant player, but not watched that much, so has never had any rating in any of these games.

It's part of your job as manager to get your players ratings up, whether deservedly or not.

It's true, yes.

But, does that mean I have to know the German, French, Italian, Russian, Spanish etc. leagues inside out, no.

In the foreign leagues, you have to go on CL/Internationals because it's all you see of them

...which takes me back to Gary Medel.

Given the fact that he is not already in the league, I would guess that he is not as widely known as he could be. If he was in the Premier League, he would have been snapped up in the drafts.

Check out the pitbull. The wikipedia quote about nullifying Messi particularly stands out, as does the quotes from the coach of the national team that also contains Sanchez, Vidal, Isla etc Whistle

Agreed.

In the ideal world, you raise the profile of your players and then hope noone sees them that often in order to prove you wrong.

Mighty you don't need to know them leagues inside out but to be a good manager or knowledgable you need to have some understanding on those leagues. No one can watch the French, Spanish, Italian, German, English and the smaller leagues all the time if they say they do they are lying or an undercover scout for a Football team I don't believe Jesus Christ Fan watches all the matches he claims to.

I try to watch as many matches as I can but it's not possible to watch every single one, so what I do is read on these teams and players, I go on specific club forums and read what the posters say, I follow people with good knowledge on Twitter such as a Twitter account for Schalke FC only. I read books, I read about tactics.

I want to get the book Inverting The Pyramid its about tactics a few years old but I've never got round to buying it. Anyone read it?

An sometimes I think I know more then some of these real life managers because I have heard of so and so. Then I've read a piece by that manager I laughed at and it shows how much they know about Football, things that I wouldn't think of but it's the basics to them.

I love Football.

I'll be honest with you Afro, I've never heard of Medel until now OK

And yeah, I think even someone rubbish like Terry Connor knows a heck of a lot more than all of us.

I would think that many would say the same thing. He's not the biggest name Chilean and has only been playing in Europe for a little bit. But he has played almost week in, week out for Sevilla since he joined them. My job now is to highlight how good he is.

I imagine that not many, if any, would have heard of Vidal until Fan started pointing him out. Medel is similar to that really.

A lot of Football pundits know eff all though, I get embarassed for them when they start thier biased Premier League crap and talk down other leagues or thier lack of knowledge on some of the big names outside England.

Shearer in 2010 was brilliant, "How many German players will make the England side?" before the second round match between England and Germany Laugh

Combined England and Germany XI;

Neuer

Lahm - Hummels - Lescott - A.Cole

Khedira - Schweinsteiger

Muller - Ozil - Rooney

Gomez

And I think I'm being generous with Lescott and Rooney. Shearer is a rubbish pundit anyway.

I think Hart is just as good as Neuer, and Rooney is world class, has to be in there. I'd maybe put Gerrard over Schwein based on the Euros, didn't think he was that good while Khedira was excellent.

Did you lot see the clip of Casillas saying to the linesman to finish the game and show respect to Italy cause they were losing 4-0 and even when the final whistle blew he didn't run around like a maniac. Big respect for Cas we don't have many players that respect the game.

Sky have announced the first Live games of the season. You will get the delight of seeing Norwich twice.

1st game - 15th September (day after my bday) - Norwich v West Ham - Saturday Lunchtime game, obviously caught wind of Me v Soddy Wink

2nd game - 28th October - Villa v Norwich - Sunday game, really wanna go. Obvious reasons why this is chosen.

Also 2 ESPN games for Norwich.

1st game - 20th October - Norwich v Arsenal - Saturday teatime, after a belter like at The Emirates.

2nd game - 17th November - Norwich v Utd - Saturday teatime, can see the shock on the cards obviously.

Respectful or patronising?

If you were an Italian player, could you interpret that as "stop the game early so we don't score another goal"

More likely £15M that £21M in my opinion, he's only got 1 year left on his contract and he could very easily go for £15M than Arsenal losing him for nothing at the end of the season.

Will never go that high Bull. Arsenal have no bargaining tool here. RVP is in the final year of his contract, so if they won't to sell him they will have to for a cut price. Teams won't pay too much, they will just wait till next summer to get him on a free if need be

Kind of agree, but I don't think many clubs will risk him then. He will be 30, injury prone, and commanding huge wages. I think the best bet is buy now, and get a good season out of him.

Like with Nasri. How much did he go for?

You send votes to Cherry and Hero. Put down the result, the goalscorers and about three to four lines of description on what you thought it was a win, lose or draw for them.

I didn't think descriptions were necessary in the cup? I usually do longer analysis in the league games though.

And viva, I could see you wearing something like that, I wouldn't personally though

As Cherries never sends reasons when he does votes for the league, I haven't given reasons either OK

If Cherries never sends reasons and neither do you and you're still getting the £2m bonus even though I put reasons I'm going to stop giving reasons too OK

Think twist was referring solely to the cup, because he does give reasons for the league. Everyone but cherries does in fact, so he better pull his finger out or we will take Neymar away for re-homing.
