Will Pontypool become the first club ever legally defined as rubbish?

Pontypool finished 12th of 14 in last years Welsh Premiership, but dont make the "top 12 performers" because that calculation includes previous seasons too.
Meanwhile of course London Welsh who finished 4th in the Championship, 2nd in their group stage, but beat the second best team in the league in a playoff final are seeking promotion to the other Premiership on "merit" grounds whilst also arguing that the stands over someone elses terraces are good enough.
A lawyer for the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) has told the High Court that Pontypool is not good enough for the reorganised premiership.

I can see your point, however are you saying a team that get into the HEC by finishing 4th in their league, who then go through the group stages as one of hte best runners up, and then wins their QF, SF and the Final don't really deserve their prize at the end? After all that is more or less the same equivelant (jebus i wish i could spell)

Pooler, not Ponty.
Also I think Valleys Region will be paying attention to these court proceedings as they could take the court road to try and gain access to the Rabo on the ground that they were unfairly treated in the past and other such legal jargon.

No they won the title fair and sqaure I just think its ridiculous to say that means they are the best team automatically. Theres still plenty of kiwis queueing up to tell us that they were the best team in 2003 and wayne barnes paved the way for wilkos knighthood.
Its a pretty extreme case in LWs case, its rare that a team so clearly behind the best in playoffs manages to win them. Even with the wins in the knockout games their season record was noticeably worse than Bristols. But they are champs all the same, no arguments there. If that alone were the sole criteron for promotion they should go up. The point I was making is that its a bit cheeky of them to say "promotion should be based on merit" when they clearly werent/arent the best team, despite winning the playoffs.

I understand that point, and I think most do. However by winning the title fair and square they have earnt their promotion on merit. Unless you think the only team that wins promotion on 'merit' is the team that goes unbeat all season, after all if they lose to someone then they can't be the outright best team in the league.
Roll on the start of the start of the season when you Leicester boys (it seems to be mostly Leicester fans) can stop your moaning about London Welsh, the Welsh international side, and anything else that has a remote link to either.

Thing is promtion isn't given soley on merit. If they try too hard saying it should be (as in change the rules for them) then I say they should change the rules for the playoffs and say the top team gets the option of promotion.
By Leicester fans I think you mean Portnoy, but most of the rest of us think it's a load of Love sacks what Welsh are doing as well.
