Ha ha John McEnroe reckons the health and safety of the match referee might be endangered if he stops the match at 11.00 pm.
I would imagine a 'financial' donation might be made by the folks at Wimbledon HQ

Surely if Andy was serving at 5-1, they would continue for 5 minutes.

So many unforced errors from Baggy - maybe the ball is not bouncing up as much as he is expecting?

C'mon Andy!!!!
A little tighter than I expected.
Well played to Baggy. Should've snared that first set.

Two minutes past 11 and Murray closes the game off. I didn't quite understand why Baghdatis just fell away, however Murray was playing fine.

The break made again a big difference, this roof does make for good viewing.

Cor this is where the draw gets tougher for Murray.
Cillic and potentially Delpo/Ferrer.
Brutal week coming up.

Dearie me.
Murray will win these Championships. Best championships in my lifetime. I'd be a traditional and a skeptic on the whole roof thing, but I'm all for it. Prime time tennis can't be beat.

Re: Wimbledon Day 6
So Murray wasn't quite able to cope with the windy conditions as well as Baggy rushing towards the net in the first part of the match. He said he felt more comfortable with the roof closed and hence no wind.

And Bradnam in his wisdom claimed it would help Murray at the start of the match

So the roof basically adds just over an hours time...they need to think about how this use this in future because for one thing putting the roof up changes the fabric/condition of the matches, or for another they might have to come back anyway if they go over the 1hr 15 extra.

Why don't they just add the floodlights?
Had Baggy not gifted the 4th set, they would have comeback in 2 days and winner would have to play twice in a day.
The roof has ruined Wimbledon, only good thing from it was Rosol taking out muttley.

I think its great having matches go on- i wouldnt have liked it if it hadnt finished though- but then that really isnt anything to do with the roof- its the 11pm finish- as you say they could play under floods

Had Murray not gifted the second set it could have been over in three. It's the same thing. The player who plays a full set better wins it. Anyway the winner as far as I am aware the winner would not have to play twicw in the same day but they have had to play Monday, then Tuesday and if they won that Wednesday. One big advantage of finishing today could be that Cilic played a 5 setter and won I think 18-16 in the fifth. So he will be a bit tired.

calder dude- why do you think murray gifted him the second???
he just got beat- yeah he played like he had smoked a field of cannabis but he just got beat in a set he wanted to win-However it really seemed that baggy gifted the last few games to get the match finished and out the way towards the end, so he wouldnt have to come back

Why didn't you ask JM why he thought Baggy gifted the 4th set. I wasn't talking about the 5th set. If you actually read my post I said it was more or less the same thing. A player got ahead and then switched off a bit allowing the momentum to change. I also siad that the player who play a full set better deserves to win it. Baggy 2nd set Murray 4th set.

Re: Wimbledon Day 6
anyway i was concentrating on the fact that i actually truly thought baggy rushed through the 4th set and almost lost it on purpose to finish the game-Although i do agree with you murray played well and he didnt, i honestly think baggy gave up because of the count down situation , and that he may have tried harder if there was unlimited time. All the same though murray only has to be half with it and he beats him. He played shocking for the first two sets in my mind , just playing to baggys weaknesses rather than his stregths(going for opponents errors and just keeping it in play)

Totally agree with that. Couldn't understand why he kept on doing it. Yeah he got a set up and a break in the second but it only took few bad errors at 2-1 to allow Baggy to take over the rest of that set. Was pleased that he came playing more positively after the break. Yes you make errors but wasn't allowing Baggy to get into a rythm.

My fault got mixed up with the long break and that. Possibly too much to drink but it felt like Baghdatis had gone 2sets to 1 up after he broke in the third. Think after Murray broke in the fourth they both seemed to be rushing it a bit. In Baggy second last service game Murray seemed to be going for the kill but made a mess of it after that he seemed to focus again where Baghdatis didn't

I never got what issue people have with a player playing to his opponents weaknesses - it would be hardly intelligent to play to their strengths. Andy's often done what all his critics say he should - come all guns blazing, gone for winners and then 60-odd unforced errors later he's lost (i.e. QF of the French)
The reason why Andy starts the matches the way he does is simple; He likes to get a feel for the court and conditions / see what strengths (and weaknesses) his opponent has (he's like a lion warily circulating his prey, making sure there are nasty surprises, before going in for the kill)
When we see the lion doing this, we admire it's intelligence - for some bizarre reason Murray's intelligent court play gets continually slated. Yes it goes wrong sometimes, yes occasionally he does one shot too many - but the terrific variety that this player has and his refusal to become just another ball basher is what makes him my current favourite
I for one am glad he's gone back to the variety rather than trying to please everyone else and is it's worked in most matches against Cilic, Del Potro and Ferrer (away from Clay) then I don't see any demons. For me the Baggy match was always going to be difficult - simply because on his day Marcos is one of the 10 best grass court players
Murray's play also has beaten Nole and Fed enough times, for us not be so neurotic about his chances and for me he's still playing as good as anyone at this event

Re: Wimbledon Day 6
ban its all about being able to mix it up during particular sets, games and even points!!- murray didnt seem to have that skill last night. his approached changed completly after the break- time for him to be able to change his game plan to suit the situation-= not after being kicked up the jacksee by his coach in the roof break. But why the heck would anyone play to the oppenents strenghts!! lol what a silly idea- the reverse (if you didnt realise)- is playing to your own strengths. In this case murray is leagues ahead of baggy and will outplay him 19/20 games by starting off with upped intensity and playing abit more topspin- rather than 99% slices to the middle of the opponents court
