New - Tennis Weekly Series Empty New - Tennis Weekly Series

Post by JuliusHMarx Sun 01 Jul 2012, 1:06 pm

Hi All,

It Must Be Love has offered to do a 'Tennis Weekly Series' thread - one thread per week, in fact, as the name suggests.
IMBL will summarise the week's events and results and include sections such as :-
Player of the Week
Shock of the Week
Match of the Week
Biggest Ranking Change
New categories can be added if the public suggest something! (Can I suggest Quote of the Week?)

Obviously it will be a topical thread, so let's keep any replies focussed on current events.
Hopefully IMBL and all other posters will offer something a bit different from what we see on other threads.

After a 7-10 days thread will move into the 'Tennis Archive' section at the top of the page.

Over to you IMBL!

IMBL,

Sounds very interesting. Given you announced this new series after a very exciting first week at Wimbledon, I hope you realize you just cannot possibly wait one more week for the first edition. So I second LF's hope that the first one will be about this past week.

Also, given there is no tennis played today, what better day to start than today?

Make it good (no pressure Wink)

Yeah sounds like a great series idea, I guess there is no question as to what is the upset of the week. Hawkeye is doing her own weekly series on Murray press conferences so this should be a nice addition.

Yes but the Karlovic press conference was hinting that murray got preferential treatment from Karlovic getting called for FFs so it is the same thing. For my money the best match was the Nadal and Rosol match. Now I am not saying that to rub it in Nadal fans faces. But just the aggression he showed for nearly 4 hours was very impressive. The fed match was great and might have surpassed it if Benny didn't pull up lame in the last set and half and both guys maintained their level late into the match. Benny had to be the biggest choke of the week. He could of won the match in 4 sets but instead blew his chances and then got hurt.

Look forward to reading it IMBL.

The Rosol match has to be the best so far for me. Such drama and explosive hitting. Murray v Baggy was also dramatic and truly unique as I've never seen someone playing against an opponent AND the clock before!!

I just hope the second week is as good as the first. I don't think I've ever enjoyed the first week of a slam more than this one.
