Glasgow's Jon Welsh out for six months
Just seen this on ESPN - apologies if it's old news, but its new to me (no pun intended).
Glasgow Warriors have been hit with a massive blow ahead of next season with the news that prop Jon Welsh is sidelined for a minimum of six months.
Welsh was injured in the aftermath of Scotland's impressive win over Australia in June and was forced to undergo surgery on his shoulder. He returned home and was replaced by Warriors team-mate Moray Low.
Glasgow will be under new coach Gregor Townsend next term and he admits it is a blow to have Welsh out of action for that length of time.
"It's clearly disappointing for Jon and the club as a whole that he will miss a substantial amount of rugby in the first part of the season," Townsend said. "He will receive excellent care and attention from our medical team as he recovers from the injury, and we look forward to welcoming him back to the fray in due course.
"On behalf of everyone at the club, I'd like to wish Jon all the best with his rehabilitation. He's a positive character, which will stand him in good stead for the challenges ahead."

I completely misread this.
I thought there was a team called Glasgow Welsh.

Crikey, had no idea it was going to be that long - that is quite a blow indeed - plenty of gametime for Ryan Grant then, with Gordon Reid providing cover - they may need to recruit some additional cover too

Do you know what for a split second I thought it too. Moving from London to Oxford, and now Glasgow!
That is a blow for Glasgow, Welsh was looking pretty good (of what I saw of him) last season. Hopefully this is one of those worst case is he will be out for six months, but possibly back sooner, things and not a we are hoping that he will be available after six months if everything goes well.

On second glance it is rather confusing (I wonder what the ERFU would say if London Welsh did move to Glasgow ... )
I'll amend

Big blow for Glasgow and Jon Welsh. He was starting to play really well last season and this is a set back. It also means that Ryan Grant has a lot of rugby to play next season. Hopefully Welsh will be back fully fit in time to cover the 6 Nations period for Glasgow.

Apparently Ed Kalman can prop equally (well?) on both sides

Oh jeez, I'd forgotten about him. I guess it's better than playing with 14 men....just.
