First topic message reminder :

Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The Pub has made it's way to Oxford - the new location for newly promoted London Welsh.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the montage of pictures of Lyn Jones above the bar.

Billy Hug

and morning all!

It's, wait for it, sunny again today!

Off out to the garden now before the tennis.

I still can't believe we've got someone in a singles Final at Wimbledon. First time in my life.

Morning all. They Call Me The Breeze by Skynyrd (old JJ Cale number) to kick the day off. That'll do nicely Smile

Hi billy. I hope you're on the mend.

Billy, good to see you Pal. I'm also having rugby withdrawal symptoms.

Was trying to find Ulster vs Leicester from January (the full game) online. No joy. It's a good time to fool yourself your team plays like that every week.

Morning all.

Great to hear from you Billy.

Boxing was very good last night, bar when I watched Tyson Fury fight some no mark in a barn after Sky's effort.

Probably watch Murray later, but I'm not overly bothered by it. Haven't really watched too much and I normally like watching the Grand Slam tournaments.

+1 on both comments.

Dreamer - after what is it, 75 years? A Brit in a Wombledon final hasn't happened in a lot of persons lifetimes! Still, it's some excitement for the tennis fans I suppose. I think I'll be the only person not watching it later. I'm going to listen in on the hurling instead, and do stuff in preparation for the week ahead.

One thing's for sure, I bet the players are enjoying the break (unless preseason's already begun). Didn't Wales play something like 20 Tests this season just gone? That's no good (except for the WRU).

I've been watching tons of old rugby matches lately to keep me sane. However when the olympics start I will be completely distracted by my 2nd favourite sport (weightlifting). Then the Rugby Championship will have started. Smile

Some of them don't really get much of a break Lucky. I know there's quite a few players who are already back in training. Gordon D'Arcy got married this weekend...dunno what's worse! Laugh

As soon as the season ends they would immediately spend more time in the gym to either bulk up/cut down and get stronger/faster for the next season. That is the time for this sort of thing, so they are always keeping themselves fit and trying to get bigger/stronger/faster. The thing they do get a break from is the contact side of things. So they get a good few weeks before they have 17 stone monsters running into their shoulders.

can't believe how high quality the final is already though. Usually it takes a set or so for players to really get into it.

Now c'mon Murray, serve out the first set, although considering how much he's had to battle for his last two service games....man it's going to be tough!

Also I just tried to jump out of my chair to cheer, and smacked my knee on the underside of the table. #bittwpthat
