Fed is 31 practically. That is why he is not as good as he was. Why do we keep having to come up with excuses... there aren't any needed. Age is the way it is.

Good for Federer to break his streak of losing sets to Djokovic.

Fed has stopped using the slice. Just trying to outhit Novak, which won't work IMO.

5-2 Djoko
Looks like set 1 and 2 will be symmetrical.

Of course he is.. he's barely moving to anything out wide on his FH side.

Anyway I've been watching Roger for nearly 10 years and I can tell when his movement looks hampered. Even Henman has mentioned it.

Now then..Djokovic to serve for the set..time for Federer to take a couple of risk here..step in and hit second serves..?

Djokovic is hardly going to bottle a rally.

1 very poor service game cost federer then... that is what age does... it knocks consistency. It is a real shame we have to see that odd bad game from fed these days, because that's the difference between slam win and sf exit. Federer at his best would destroy djokovic... there is no doubt at all.

Match hasn't really taken off yet. But the good news is that it's 1-1 which sets up the rest better than if if were 2-0. Going by very quickly isn't it. Less than an hour for 2 sets. Fairly unusual.

Novak loves pace, and Federer is giving it to him all the time.

Use the slice man! He fell apart because of the slice in the game Fed broke him. Why has Federer stopped using it?!

Fed should slow down a little, I know he wants to finish quickly, but more slice and drop shots, clear the lines a little.

So when Fed breaks it's a 'good return game' but when Djoko breaks he gets no credit but it was just a poor service game. Laugh

IIRC Djokovic hit a poor BH error BP down to give Fed the break.

Probably true, but not really relevant to today. No-one can live in the past, and I'm not sure it would be a good idea even if you could.

Fed was actually a bit fortunate to get the break in the first set. Djokovic had an unlucky net cord while 30-0 up at 2-3 in the first set. Novak actually looked more comfortable on serve during that set and has looked that way the entire match so far.

I can't help it that Federer's service loss was a lot worse than Novak's. That is how it was. Of course, in your world, Federer's break must be equally as "bad"
