Fair enough Seifer. If I'm honest I don't get the idea of supporting a Tennis player. Its an individual sport and as such I view it that the players represent themselves. I'll back the Brits but never that disappointed when they lose.

Henman Bill wrote:Why was more on the line for Djokovic today than when he won his first slam or his first Wimbledon or US Open? hardly?? At most it was on a par with those matches. if that.
Wasn't even a final. No guarantee that Murray/Tsonga won't cause a slight surprise and walk off with the title.
The pressure was on Nadal because he had lost 4 straight matches going into that Wimbledon final and it continued into the USO final. That is certainly how it felt at the time. Many thought the pressure was more on Djokovic going into those matches but not especially when Nadal had been losing all his matches to Djokovic in 2011.
This match had his No.1 on the line and he was defending champion.
I agree, I wouldn't rule out Murray or Tsonga but I think we'll all agree Fed has been playing great in the last few rounds and if continues to hold onto his serve so comfortably, he'll be difficult to beat.

I understand that... in fact there are only 2 or 3 sportsman where it means so much to me. I understand that they are millionaires and that this is "a game", but it is the animal instinct to want to win and to feel the fight. I physically shake watching Federer... I dunno... it feels bad but also good. I think it is one of those things you have to feel! In my case, I want Federer to win for justice... of talent and ability. For the work to pay off... And because he is as sound as a pound.
When you play sports.... do you ever get the want to win and feel really annoyed at losing? Everyone must be able to feel that surely?
I can't support "teams" because they often buy their way to the top.

I'm so nervous, can't imagine how nervous Murray is.
The start is sooooo important. MUST start faster than he did against Ferrer.

Yeah I get that when I play sport Seifer - I'm very competitive. If that's how Federer affects you then good for you as there's nothing like going on that journey with your favourite team/player and feeling part of it.
Just for me I've only ever felt that about teams that are representing me e.g. England football, cricket team, my pathetic lower league football team. I don't get too excited these days about anything though - a lifetime of following sports has made me more immune to the highs and lows!

That's a shame... I think supporting an individual can be more intense... it is just you and them... But maybe you just haven't found the right guy (haha sorry that sounds gay! but!)
I love supporting England in football... deeply patriotic and you can't buy a title at int. level.

Haha - of course it could be a sportswoman. My old man is a big Jess Ennis fan though I don't think it has much to do with him wanting her to win

Not a very Murray like start here. The slow starter has come out firing. Could this be the year?!

Murray starts explosive, never seen him play this aggressive early on in a match, go Muzza go.

Bit concerned about some of the grown men on here creaming themselves over a sweaty man in shorts winning a Tennis match!
Don't think anyone's creaming their pants.
But I guess you haven't seen what footy fans are like when 11 sweaty men in shorts win a match!

I see this as a nervy start from Tsonga and an excellent start from Murray. I guess Novak's loss has given him heart...

Re: Wimbledon Day 11 - Mens Semi-Finals
Murray over 66% points won on second serve for the tournament.
What is he doing differently? It seems a little deeper, but not that different to justify a weakness becoming a strength!!!
Any suggestions? Am I missing something obvious?

Tsonga needs a kick up the backside. Does he realise he is in a Wimbledon Semi?? He is playing like Murray in a Semi Final usually

Funnily enough despite what some said I was impressed by his approach to the Ferrer match and he's maintaining that quality he showed.

Tsonga has lost the sense of occasion i think. Playing like he's warming up in Queens.

One set down for Murray. Two more to go.
Come on Andy. You can do it. Keep serving as well as you have been (If only he could hear me).

It is looking like I was wrong about Tsonga's bottle... I really thought he would have it... He does have the game and the talent and the power... but his bottle is certainly suspect. Even more suspect than Murray's.

It is BB, I was saying this for quite a while that he is a very good grass court player, in 2009 it was an inspirational performance from Roddick [who is an exceptional grass court player] prevented him from reaching the finals.
With tougher draw this time around, it has warmed Andy up very well, even a semi against Rafa would not have bothered him too much.
Finals for Fed would be no easy task.

I love Tsonga's variety! It was his Aus win over Nadal in 2008(?) that made me a fan.

I don't know why everyone remembers that so fondly, yeah Tsonga was good but Fed was so useless that match. I mean he broke once at the beginning of the match and then never saw another break point and could hardly rally or make any returns afterwards.

Muzza is playing very aggressive tennis, his returns are stunning serving great including 2nd serves, forehand has been deadly, backhand are setting up winners, he is making Tsonga look like a journey man.
Andy is up for it really, he is proving how good a grass court player he is.
