Re: Liverpool FC Thread
Was out tonight at a meeting among Celtic fans about this, as many Reds may know, Celtic have been a big voice in the Justice for the 96 Campaign and have done quite a bit to help Liverpool raise awareness, quite emotional night for our Liverpudlian correspondants
Disgraceful cover-up and no apology from The Sun should ever be accepted, time for justice to now be done
Also, don't know if it's been mentioned but a very classy gesture from Everton Football Club today with the Justice for the 96 printed on their home top and plastered over the club shop window

That's what I love about our city, no matter how bad the bitterness and banter can get, both sets of fans can unite in moments like this.
I just hope all the Munich & Hillsborough chants can stop between us & Man Utd.

It's not just Man United and Liverpool, it's all clubs. I haven't been at Liverpool match in recent times where there opposition fans haven't started up the 'always the victim' chant. People that write it off as banter are every bit as bad too.

Yeah I no, I've been at Anfield when we've played Man Utd, we've been singing justice for the 96, then 10 mins later a few people start chanting Munich.
It's just horrible and embarrassing.

Frankly, it makes me ashamed to be a Liverpool fan, when some idiots begin with the Munich chants. I am a staunch Liverpool fan, since I have been ten years old, but I would never insult or degrade the memories of deceased human beings. It is utterly repugnant.

Lets be honest every fanbase has a selection of scumbags. Liverpool fans haven't been squeaky clean in this regard either. Let the cowards act tough when they're protected by a crowd, none of them would say anything alone in Liverpool.

Well from constant munich chants, covering old Trafford in Poopie, throwing urine at away fans, stealing tickets from kids, rocking ambulances of injured players etc etc Liverpool fans are hardly saints.
Why don't we just accept people are dickheads instea of engaging in perpetual one upmanship.

Re: Liverpool FC Thread
Not feeling too confident about the game tonight, the squad isn't big enough to be successful on all fronts. Lots of first team players have been left out so the performance will likely be very disjointed.
Jones, Wisdom, Carragher, Coates, Enrique, Shelvey, Sahin, Henderson, Downing, Yesil, Morgan, Gulacsi, Robinson, Coady, Suso, Sterling, Pacheco, Assaidi.
That's the squad that's being taken.
I'd line up like:
Jones
Enrique
Carragher
Coates
Robinson
Shelvey
Sahin
Henderson
Assaidi
Morgan/Yesil
Downing
I think Sterling should be rested as I imagine he'll start against United, unless Rodgers is planning to play defensively. I'd be tempted to start Pacheo ahead of Assaidi or Downing, it depends on how he'd work on the wing. There are no right backs in the squad though other than Wisdom who I'm really not sure should be starting (where is Flanagan?), so either it'll be how I've shown it with a left back playing right back, or Sahin will fill in there, or play three centre backs.

I don't like our chances tonight either , i can see him starting Wisdom and Suso on the right . While i do think they need to given a chance i'm not sure this is the right game to make so many changes

That's the team. Surprised Wisdom is given the start, I expect a good game from Sahin. Pacheo as the main striker is surprising as well, thought he was more of a second striker/attacking midfielder.
Would take a draw right now.

Weirdly the two weak links seem to be Carragher and Enrique, the experienced players.
Suso's control is excellent, could do with getting into the game a bit more. Same goes for Pacheo.

I do hope Carragher doesn't stumble his way into retirement and only get game time because of his status at the club.

Re: Liverpool FC Thread
Well he's been told he's still part of plans next year, let's hope those plans are for him to go into coaching...
Second half started poorly, need to score now. This game is a game we really need to win if we want to even get close to getting out of the group.

I have a feeling he'll follow Gary Neville's lead and take a position within in the media, possibly SKY. Perhaps he'll juggle that with a coaching role?

Re: Liverpool FC Thread
The thing is, I don't understand how he has so quickly gone in quality, it can't be his pace, as he was never the fastest anyway.
He just doesn't seem to have that ability to see when and where to tackle, he never seems to tackle at all any more.

I don't know what has happened to him. I'm hoping this game was because he's just getting back from injury. He's has looked a little off since January though. Let's hope he can improve.

Overall you have to be pleased with the win , a few stand out performances and a few i'm sure certain players will want to forget . But 3 points is 3 points and it puts us comfortably at the top of the group
