Only Federer's mistakes are keeping Murray in this game...

Terrible 2nd serve and can't attack Roger's serve anymore. Its like his ribs have been kicked out of shape and lost the will to hit back.

I think that break of service has cost Murray the championship. Federer will just get stronger and stronger.

At least Andy gets to serve first to begin the fourth set. He needs to maintain a high first serve percentage and put Roger under pressure in the Swiss' service games.

Nicely converted Roger!
*3-2 its almost there. Murray is tilting and not sticking with a game plan!

I actually think he is really struggling. His movement is not as good as the first three sets and he is missing on his shots a bit more because of the movement.

Thats because Federer was moving him left and right for sets 1, 2 and 3...

You feel had this level Federer been on court in set 1 and much of 2...then this would have been relatively straight forward.

Theoretically, Murray needs just one break to get back in this set.

Re: Wimbledon Day 13 - Murray v Federer - Mens Final
Well played Roger Federer.
The return of serve has won him this Slam. The boring block has done the trick. Roger has actually won with boring, but more importantly effective tactics.
Comiserations Murray. Had the chance, blew it. Great champions hang in there.
It was a good final.
I would not be surprised to see Roger take his tally to 18.
to both players.

Well played to Andy. As a Roger fan, his excellent play ensured that I was not comfortable until the last point.
The roof definitely made the difference today.
Congrats to Roger on slam 17. It was perfect that he won it on the court where the magic that is his career began.

Well done Roger, the greatest player of all time has Wimbledon Number Seven. Murray was good today but simply outgunned by a better player. There's a slam coming for Murray, probably on a hard court, but it's not today. Mr. Federer, enjoy your win.

Don't think the roof made the difference at all personally. Fed had swung the match around before the roof came over

Re: Wimbledon Day 13 - Murray v Federer - Mens Final
Think thats a bit harsh LK...Fed shows touches of genius throughout the match...he was simply a level above Murray when it counted.
I dont think Murray blew, Federer raised his level...plus you can see Murray is just not as mentally strong.
It did take show cojones to serve that match out with the audience shouting Murray's name the whole time and with Federer having so much riding on it.

Eh?? Or what about if Murray had played at the same level at the first set and three quarters it would have been a straight forward win for Murray. It works both ways you know.
Congratulations to Roger Federer on winning his 7th Wimbledon title and getting that record of most weeks at No.1 - when called on he pulled out his best play as champions do. As for Andy he has the monkey off his back of having not won a set in a slam final and he'll kick himself that he never took that second set as he had good chances. It is progress though and showed his fight and spirit but just fell short. Well played again Roger.

You make a good point. However, I fear things could have gotten trickier had the roof stayed open. Andy was really excellent on the return today. As well as Roger served, Andy still put him under some pressure in his service games.

Murray is not bad, just doesnt have greatness, winning slams is not everything, 4 finals is better than we all have.

That works both ways though. Murray's level dropped in the third and fourth sets when Federer was playing as well as he could.
