The lost art of Fed-worshipping - Page 2 Empty The lost art of Fed-worshipping

First topic message reminder :

The once popular activity of worshipping the greatest player ever has fallen out of fashion in recent years, more or less dating back to January 2008. There was a brief revival in 2009 but it didn't last as rivals chased down his Slam record and Djokovic flirted with the Grand Slam.

Now once again let this lost art flourish again!

All contemporaries have been reminded that even at almost 31, witha dodgy back, he is still officially the best player on the planet again.

As High Priest I invite the congregation to gather and join me as we begin writing lots of articles*.

* No irritating ones though!

just saw feds interview in today at wimbledon and one thing that made me think a bit was inverdales question.
'we will see you next year for no 8?'
and feds replied 'we will see'

ok does that mean inverdale was asking if he could win his 8th title
or did feds mean he wasn't even sure he would be there next year?!!?!?
anyone?

I saw it as 100% meaning we'll see if he can win #8.

No retirement soon I think, he's enjoying it too much.

emancipator wrote:BTW, Fed's net play was sublime today. Again it was a throwback to his glory days.

People like Socal claim that Roger is a good volleyer but not a great one.

Nonsense, he is the best volleyer in the top 10. It's just that it is so hard to volley with success in the modern game where all the advatnges with strings, and court conditions favour the baseliner.

Fed won 53 of 68 points at the net today. Against such an exceptional mover and passer as Andy Murray that is just phenomenal.

The fact that he came to the net 68 times is itself incredible.

Exactly! Finally the voice of reason. There are countless videos on youtube that bear testimony to this fact. His volleying today was imperious and worthy of a champion. There is hardly anything that Roger does not do well on a hardcourt.

The Master Federer, after having to suffer the indignity of having his pedigree questioned amongst the common rabble that represents the scribes and the general public, has put to rest doubts about his title-winning mettle in resounding fashion.

The King has adapted to life as a husband and father and has continued to perform at the highest level of his craft in the face of a charge from his successors-in-waiting, Novak Djokovic and his perennial nemesis Rafael Nadal. The King lost a few battles along the way and has had to confront his own tennis mortality.

However, today, although not of the breathtaking vintage of past triumphs, his prodigious sliced back-hand volleys at net on two glorious occasions in today's contest against the worthy Scot from Dunblane, illustrated that, when summoned, his tennis abilities and talents are on another plane of existence.

Today's triumph was vindication for the Great One and it was apropos, that he should add to his already impressive trove of silverware that bear testimony to his greatness at the place where it all began eleven years ago against the ruthless Pete Sampras, a grass court colossus in his own right.

To echo the sentiments of The Emancipator, "Long Live the King."
