Should Leicester have their own section
As its quite and as we have had many posts from Portnoy about this amazing team should we have a section added to the Rugby Union called "Leicster Tigers are the greatest because"
Tigers are and have been a great team and are someone that teams try to emulate but no one can compete with them etc is getting boring and will allow people to have their own self praising rants.
We could add to it Leinster are the only team good enough to beat the All blacks etc.
Just a bit of fun and hopefully it will stop someone from writing a topic as there is already a topic on leicester

Re: Should Leicester have their own section
Leicester had one of the greatest domestic packs of the pro era. A front row that was monsterous in the tight and at the set pieces. A second row that was mountainous and extremely good in the tight and the set pieces. A backrow that was sublime at the breakdown and workhorses to a man. The backs outside them weren't bad either.
It was a goldern era pack and they provided a chunk of the famous 2003 team (most noteably the lineout and engine room). When we next get a pack that good we'll win Europe again.

Win Europe? Getting out of your group in the HC would be a start, plus how about trying to win the Aviva again first?

I think it would be better to have a Portnoy section rather than Leicester. That way it wouldn't be cluttering up the rest of the board but would be freely available if we were feeling masochistic

Pfft we've still lost more finals than both Scottish Clubs have played in, won more finals than they've played in as well. We were in a tough group last year and played terribly away from home with no TBP in Italy, letting a LBP or possibly a win in Clermont slip away and then taking a kicking at Ravenhill. Priority should be to make sure that Flood and Youngs are fit and available for as much of the big games as possible. Harrison/Young and Ford/Bowden are more than capable of filling in against the smaller teams.

Tigers have a great reputation Brendan, they have one of the best organisational set ups in the NH with no big financial backer needed and ownership of their own ground and training facilities. Everything but the first team is currently the best (without external help re. facilities anyway). The academy plays the best in Europe and has a decent record (beat Ulster lost to Leinster in pre season) and regularly beats English representitve sides.
The first team is good but not great though. There's just a slight fragility around the game management on the pitch when one or two players are missing. Crane, Croft, Deacon, Youngs and Flood really are the key leaders in the team and that needs to change, there needs to be more leadership throughout, when Tigers won back to back HECs and four Premiership titles on the bounce they had a team of leaders. Sure Johnno led them, but defensive captain Backie was there at 7 and lineout leader Kay was alongside Johnno in the engine room etc. If we're brutally honest the side isn't quite there or wasn't at the end of last season.

Hey, why did Leinster get lumped in with Leicester.
There were about 2 "Leinster are great" threads after the final this year, and they weren't even by Leinster fans!!

If they set up a 'Leicester are great' section it would mostly be Portnoy having discussions on how great the Tigers are with himself; with Equo occassionaly dropping in to say how poor the teams of the Rabo are and how they will never be as good as Leicester. The remaining Tigers fans would be on other forums (such as the international/club sections) discussing rugby in an eloquent manner like the sound and knowledgable fans they are.
