The original topic was all about new players coming INTO the PL and how quickly they adapt and whether there's a trend that players from Germany adapt quicker than players from Spain or something like that.

Why do arsenal do this every year? Seriously they'd be better off with £5-£10 million less in the bank and actually have a settled squad for an entire pre season.

What, signing Podolski and Giroud before most teams started recruiting?
Moving for Cazorla almost as soon as he was available. Last year they panicked bought, but its an unfair charge to level this year

They did do some good early business, but we didn't know if RVP was going to be here until almost the 1st game, and following the 1st game we've found that Song is off so we're going to have to replace him, and still haven't strengthened the defence.
It's worrying that the 1st game of the season we had Djourou & Arshavin on the bench when both are likely to be sold as well (and not much behind Djourou in defence to be honest).

Rvp has left 1 day before the season starts, song deal agreed on first day of the season. How deflating is this for the fans and squad even if the manager has a plan.
Granted Giroud and podolski have come in to fill rvps slot, but cazorla is a year late and they've no replacement for song.
On cazorla, he moved to Malaga a year ago for a similar fee arsenal paid this summer- why mess about with player who want to leave. Sell them, replace them and get ready for the new season.

Erik Pieters was at SJP this evening. Hope this means his arrival is imminent. If it is, it'll see Santon probably pushed to RB and Pieters starting on the left. Santon/HBA is a scary prospect down one side

Malaga sold because their new owners abandoned the project for whatever reason and they were left with massive debts

Wenger apparently had the chance to sign Cazorla when he went to Malaga last year.

Not sure if it's a genuine Twitter account but Dennis Bergkamp's on Twitter saying he's joining Arsenals coaching team next season (13/14), very interesting as I think he's currently with Ajax, and has trouble travelling to away games in Europe, which seems to have discounted him from a top job.
Good news if true.

One of my all time favorite players is Bergkamp. I've always had this inkling that he'd end up back at Arsenal. Legend.

Re: Big Premier League Signings II
Legend he definately is, and seems like a really nice guy to boot.
I've felt Arsenal always wanted him back, and he'd come, but that his fear of flying would always get in the way.
It'll be good to see him

I honestly believe that he was the catalyst for Arsenals total football so to speak. He set the ball rolling. He also has a genuine love for that club.

Re: Big Premier League Signings II
We (Arsenal) are apparently going to announce the Sahin loan signing tomorrow, and the M'Vila signing later in the week.
We'll have quite a lot of depth and talent in midfield if these signings come off, though I still think we'll miss Song (whose was also meant to be popular in the dressing room as well).
We just need a FB now and we'll be set, though Llorente would be an awesome bonus as well.

What is going on at Spurs?

When fit I'd say he's their best centre back. Interesting to say the least.

Re: Big Premier League Signings II
SOCCER star André Santos was facing jail last night after he allegedly sped away from chasing cops at up to 130mph.
The Arsenal defender is also said to have weaved in and out of rush-hour traffic in his Maserati GranTurismo supercar.
He was finally nicked by the Gunners’ training pitch in London Colney, Herts, and could be jailed if guilty of dangerous driving.
Santos gunned his black Maserati to stretch ahead of pursuing police, it was claimed yesterday.
Cops were said to have struggled to keep up as the Brazilian international shot away at speeds of up to 130mph in the £110,000 car.
Police eventually stopped the 29-year-old left back 500 yards from Arsenal’s training ground.
The dad of one — who has several high-powered motors plus a tiny Smart Car for shopping — was arrested for dangerous driving and failing to stop.

Even Nick Freeman would do well to dig him out of that hole Nando.
